I called Wayne Allard to ask how he was planning to vote on cloture...

The aid said he had "no comment on that at this time."

I expressed my disgust at that fact alone...

"How can the Senator NOT have a firm position on such a big issue as the Shamnesty bill at this stage of the game. Please ask the Senator not to play politics on this and tell him Americans are watching."

FYI:

“So I have voted to allow debate on this important measure, but do so with serious reservations about the present form of the legislation. I am hopeful that substantive improvements can be made to this bill; however, if they are not, this bill will fail and I will vote against it.”

I say kill it, draft a simpler bill to enforce current law and secure our borders/security, but my understanding is this was voted on to open discussion, at least that is what I'm hoping. My other state senator Sunnunu voted it down completely, so some good news overall from over here in NH.

I still wouldn't relax any of your efforts contacting these senators (especially the ones who don't release such statements as above) to tell them how you feel about it. There's a reason they (the main drivers of the bill) keep bringing this bill back and killing it, they are trying to confuse the public into thinking it was defeated "PHEW, no need to worry any more!" , WRONG , they keep trying to railroad this thing over and over , 15 times in the last 4 years, so keep at it.

I just sent my senator (John Warner) a fax expressing contempt for this garbage. How much do they think we'll take? Go Ron Paul!

Since they don't seem to care what we think on how they will vote, I just don't seem to care to how it will throw them out of a job when I vote for someone else in the next election. :D

Some of these traitors aren't worth calling....they will go for shamnesty no matter what the public thinks....

John McCain helped craft this abomination of a bill....you know he wont budge no matter what...

Trent Lott is a complete traitor....he won't budge.....

Arlen Specter....Ditto what I said for Lott......

Lindsey Grahmnesty.....Ditto what I said for Lott & Specter......

I think one person who is worth calling though not listed is

Jim Webb (D-VA) (202) 224-4024

He has MOST potential status to change vote.....

Harry Reid shot down his amendment....Plus he voted against cloture last round.

And he's a first term senator so he hasn't really been indoctrinated into the Beltway culture of corruption....

So anyone making calls...please add senator Webb to your call list.....

Don't forget to find out your Reps. position on the bill so you'll immediately know who to call if this thing gets out of the Senate.

I got a great idea, pay a bunch of illegal immigrants to wait outside the senators house.
