Hate the thought of getting wiretapped? You might want to stay out of Nevada. And California, Colorado, and New York. Those states account for around half of the wiretapping activity on portable devices in the U.S., according to a report from the Administrative Office of the U.S. Court.

For every 500,000 people in Nevada, around 38 are wiretapped on their phones and portable devices a year. California has the largest number of wiretaps overall, with 26 percent of the total wiretap authorization requests. Riverside, California had a whopping 341 wiretaps authorized, more than Los Angeles proper, which suggests it's an area that law enforcement officials suspect to be rife with something criminal. Or it's an area where law enforcement officials just have more luck getting authorization to listen in.

...

Wow! Nevada at 38.2 and the next runner-up is 12.4? WTF? Was it because of the whole Bundy Ranch thing? Was it because Ron Paul won the primaries in 2008 and 2012? Was it because this is 'Dirty' Harry Reid's home state? And I thought Bloomberg / Banberg was bad? Lets see if the article answers that...

Why the discrepancy? The U.S. Courts report states that 87 percent of the wiretapping authorization requests specify illegal drugs as the primary crime. So states with high rates of illegal drug activity are likely to have higher wiretapping rates.

Drugs? Really? So, gambling and prostitution go hand in hand with illegal drugs? Anyone remember Adam Kokesh, the guy that wanted to exercise his 1st and 2nd Amendment Right by marching with Guns in DC? What was he nailed for? Oh yeah, Drugs! Pot isnt completely legal in Nevada. At least for recreational purposes, but is authorized for "medicinal" use, but it cant be sold in Nevada. Maybe its Meth, not Pot, and we all know damn well that Harry Reid is smoking some seriously awful shit. Or maybe because the BLM owns so much land in Nevada?

Then you get this statement:

Of course, if you're not doing anything illegal, your chances of getting wiretapped by a law enforcement agency will be far lower than someone who is participating in a drug scheme or engaged in another felonious activity, whether you're in Reno or Roca Baton.

"Nothing wrong, nothing to hide". How about "Nothing wrong, stop trying to find something wrong"! Maybe it is because of Nevadas exceptionally high unemployment rate? Where's Zippy? The Unemployment Rate as we all know is complete and total bullshit. So Zippy will come along and say they are not BS because, then point right back to the same exact stats we just called BS on. That is like pro Obama folks saying Obama is great because of all the promises he made, but when we remind them that he broke those promises, they turn right the fuck back around and say "but Obama promised, see, right here"! All empty promises, all false stats. Maybe its not the Unemployment Rate. Hmm, yeah, Atlantic City is gonna be the Next Detroit? So if gambling as an industry goes hand in hand with the demise of a city, boy, Las Vegas and Reno are just fucked. Tourism and Gambling are both dependant on people with disposable incomes, but Casino employment is considered terrible because of the very low wages they dispense.

Maybe because they overbuilt during the "boom"? Highest Foreclosure Rate, duking it out with Florida over that one. Yeah, thats a good excuse to Wiretap everyone. Your home had to be foreclosed on, thats a good reason to wiretap. I guess Foreclosure is doing something not just wrong but so terribly wrong that people deserve Wiretaps! Oh yeah, that graphic says Florida is not even Top 10 of Wiretaps. What about Drug Use per Capita? Well, I looked for a bunch of maps, but Nevada isnt #1 on those lists, not even the Top 10, and a couple didnt even have Nevada listed in Top 50 when looking for College Drug and Alcohol use. So we know damn well it isnt the drugs. I'll put my money on Dirty Harry Reid.

You might think "boy, those people in Nevada are gonna get screwed before anyone else". Thats a False Sense of Security. Its the same thinking that Spying on you to protect you from Terrorism is valid. Make no mistake, Nevada may be #1, but rest assured, your ass is on that list too, regardless of where you live on the planet. They may even mistake your Backbone as a Skeleton and arrest you for it.

Hmmm...Colorado 2nd. I wonder if that goes down in the future due to the marijuana law changes.
