I don't wish the trauma of Lawrence O'Donnell's traffic accident on anyone, but he seems to have emerged as a more balanced, centered, and well-spoken man. I like the beard, too.

O'Donnell looks good with a beard. He should keep it.

What's a socialist without a beard anyway? Yes, that's a rhetorical question.

Here I thought that Lawrence O'Donnell was useless, but I was wrong. That piece is right on the money in every way.

Rand is in sync with the voters.

Perry is in sync with Cheney and they are hoping to paint Paul as an isolationist but they are failing and will continue to fail. It is a very deliberate effort by the neocons and it will work against them. Rand is defending himself with verbal Judo and their attacks will further divide them from the voters.

Republican voters stand with Rand.

The MIC stands with Cheney/Perry.

Any true anti-war democrat should welcome this debate and hope for a Rand Paul victory. A true anti-war democrat would want both major parties to be much less war mongering.

I've never liked Lawrence.

I honestly think Lawrence is a changed man since returning from his accident.

He's right, Rand Paul would mop the floor with Perry in a debate over this issue. I am starting to wonder though, is the Republican primary really going to be 7 or 8 interventionists against Rand Paul? It would be straight up handing him the nomination with the ever-increasing non-interventionist vote being unified behind Paul and with the neocons all split up. Even if there are any candidates that do come around to something more like Paul's position, it would be obvious that they would be following Rand Paul's lead on the issue which would give Paul an advantage anyway.

It is curious that the Republican establishment hasn't already sent two or three impostors to position themselves "to the left" of Rand on foreign policy.

We will likely see the other candidates copying Rand's talking points. 2016 will be a different time from July, 2014.

I don't think that will work though. With Rand defining himself this early in the campaign, voters will know that the other guys are jumping on the bandwagon while Rand is the real deal.

Ed Schultz called Ron an isolationist. I'd like to see both sides get smacked down, but it was a good video nonetheless.

I actually think they're too stupid to do that. They want GOP voters to know that any deviation from the Bush doctrine=Liberal Democrat.

Except that this position is not where the majority of GOP voters poll with, and, in lieu of a high profile false flag, I expect to become even less popular with voters by debate time. So the neocons won't even be able to win a primary, let alone a general election. Most of the potential 2016 candidates seem to be remaining fairly quiet on foreign policy (Rick Perry excluded) and I suspect it it so that they can take a more "realist" position on foreign policy without having to walk back and flip flop as much as they might otherwise.

And will provide excellent fodder for ads... The flip flop angle plays well.
