House Subcommittee on Immigration and Border Security
We the undersigned request that the US House of Representatives conduct hearings to investigate Kansas City Southern's direct criminal participation in human trafficking and illegal immigration as a key factor in the current crisis at the border.

The majority of the flood of Central American illegals making their way to the US border travel on top of railroad cars on a railroad network known as "La Bestia" due to the fact that the freight train network bypasses the immigration checkpoints that exist on the highways and in the bus terminals. Kansas City Southern runs the principal rail network that is used by the migrants to complete their journey to the US border once they make it to the center of Mexico, where Kansas City Southern Mexico's lines from Veracruz and Michoacan converge on its way up to Laredo Texas.

Along its network, this US-run railroad has shown negligence and complicity by freely allowing tens of thousands of illegal immigrants to board their trains and ride on top all of the way up to the border while its conductors make periodic stops in remote areas to allow criminal bands to board and extort passengers. This deliberate collaboration with human traffickers only stops occassionaly for a week or two to allow periodic scandals in Mexico to cool off, only to resume again.

The management and Board of Directors of Kansas City Southern ought to be held accountable for knowingly allowing the railroad to be an active and willing participant in human trafficking and for aiding and abetting illegal immigration. Try ride the tops of freight cars across the US with a thousand other people and see what happens. If the railroad companies in the US can and do keep illegal ridership to a minimum, why does Kansas City Southern allow hundreds and even thousands of people at a time ride on top of its freight cars on the way to the the border?

By keeping Central American illegals off of this train, the vast majority of the flow of migrants can be stopped because the majority of those who travel north on the highways are caught and sent back by Mexico's Instituto Nacional de Migración. Making the journey north a lot harder will go a long way towards disuading people from making the trip. Americans and Congress must act now to pressure Kansas City Southern to stop being a willing accomplice in this human trafficking tragedy.

Sincerely,
[Your name]
