A New York City police officer suffered serious injuries when he was struck by a child's bike hurled from the fifth floor of an apartment building.
The officer was responding to a man firing a gun in Brooklyn around 2 a.m. Sunday when someone began tossing debris from a balcony at 959 Saint Mark's Avenue.
Police say the bike was thrown from a window or balcony of the building.
The officer was taken to a hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
Police arrested the individual firing the shots. A second person was taken into custody but it wasn't immediately clear if either was the person who tossed the bike.
