I think the ad should just say "Justin Amash's opponent" rather than "Brian Ellis." Eric Cantor lost partly because he ran a bunch of ads mentioning David Brat by name, greatly increasing his name recognition. I don't think it really helps to make Brian Ellis sound like he's a legitimate candidate and competitor.

yeah but Ellis is already blanketing the airwaves with hundreds of thousands of dollars in ads, most people have probably heard of him already... as opposed to Dave Brat who didn't have a huge ad budget and was much less known.
