City facing safety capital levy dilemma (http://www.chillicothegazette.com/article/20140628/NEWS01/306280029/Can-city-wean-itself-from-using-safety-capital-levy-money-salaries-)

The armored vehicle, acquired in January 2012, is used by the department’s special response team for every mission — including service of all no-knock search warrants — and is being paid back with money from the safety levy capital improvement fund.

Police Chief Roger Moore could not be reached for comment, but Feeney said it’s clear the police and fire departments are having to make sacrifices.

The Police State is more important. So what if you house burns to the ground and there's not an ambulance to get you to the hospital in time. The officers will be secure in their MRAP.

Seriously though, Chillicothe does not even break the top 50 cities of Ohio by population. Why in the hell do they even have a SWAT team?

Because any warrant executed on a citizen in lawful 2nd Amendment possession of a firearm is legalized grounds for a no-knock SWAT raid.
Because any warrant executed for a non violent drug offense is legalized grounds for an ultra violent no-knock SWAT raid.

Because FUCK YOU! That's why.

Now submit so I can curb stop your head

WTF, I thought the Nazis over at DHS were giving away tanks and amour personnel carriers away to any BlackShirted SS-WAT gang that wanted one? Why are the people being taxed again?

Scarier, WTF does a town of 20K need a tank?

Creed said that, though the fire department’s equipment is in good shape, some of its biggest issues involve ambulances.

Between 2008 and 2011, maintenance costs averaged around $20,000, but in the past two years, that has risen to $35,000, he said, adding that the department hasn’t had the opportunity to replace its vehicles as often as it would like.

“Our goal is to replace one every two years,” Creed said.

However, keeping the ambulances well-maintained is a top priority. The oldest emergency medical service vehicle it owns is 13 years old, Creed said.

The council recently approved $16,000 for the fire department to cover repair and maintenance costs for the remainder of the year, but Creed said he expects maintenance costs to rise as time goes on.

“When we don’t replace them regularly, you can see them go up to $35,000, $40,000, $45,000,” Creed said. “It’s that vicious cycle where you need to have a good maintenance program.”

That seems pretty expensive. Do they get $1000 oil changes from their brother in law? Perhaps these people just need to spend their money a little more wisely.

And how many no-knock raids would you really need in a town that small? If they limited no-knock raids to actually justified ones, vs. "standard procedure" BS, they would probably have one every several years.

in the time to come,, consideration should be given to capturing these undamaged,, so they can be re-purposed.

it may take a bit more planing and coordination than just destroying them outright.

Just a thought for future considerations.

I suspect that if at all, they'll start to fall to disrepair.
DHS is giving them out to all takers, and -as seen in this story- small towns struggle to shoulder the maintenance costs.

None. At least I think that's what Krystal Barrows would say.

Krystal Marie Barrows, 35, of Chillicothe, was “in critical condition” and flown by helicopter to Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center, where she died the following day.

Though the city police are part of Taffy US23, the killing projectile came from a sheriff's deputy.
