The Federal Aviation Administration has said that online shopping powerhouse Amazon may not employ drones to deliver packages, at least not anytime soon. The revelation was buried in an FAA document (PDF) unveiled Monday seeking public comment on its policy on drones, or what the agency calls "model aircraft." The FAA has maintained since at least 2007 that the commercial operation of drones is illegal. ... In Monday's announcement, published in the Federal Register, the FAA named Amazon's December proposal as an example of what is barred under regulations that allow the use of drones for hobby and recreational purposes. The agency did not mention Amazon Prime Air by name, but it didn't have to. Under a graphic that says what is barred, the FAA mentioned the "Delivering of packages to people for a fee." A footnote added, "If an individual offers free shipping in association with a purchase or other offer, FAA would construe the shipping to be in furtherance of a business purpose, and thus, the operation would not fall within the statutory requirement of recreation or hobby purpose."

As far as the government is concerned, the only things drones have any business delivering are bombs ...

So, sometime between FAA's inception and now, Congress gave it the ability to create law? Or is this supposed to be an interpretation of a law Congress passed? If a bureaucratic agency can create regulation at its pleasure, where is your representation?

Leave it to the government to ban progress

There is none.

Something I have been hollering about for a while now.

Regulation without Representation.

ALL of the alphabet soup agencies write MILLIONS of regulations that all have force of law, without a single vote of any kind being taken.

And there is no way any rational sane person can know or comply with every single one.

Worse, now they are writing UN rules into the regulations, giving UN rules the same force of law US statutes.

All of that is fiction.

This is why they want to ban civilian use of drones. And they will. And then anything that fly's will be heavily regulated. The camaras the tapes the GPS so that anything which is allowed to fly becomes a drone of the state.

Russian pizzeria launches unmanned delivery...

Pizza delivery will never be the same for a northern Russian city. From now on, drones will be delivering pizza to Syktyvkar residents, where a restaurant is rolling out a new service.

DoDo Pizza's first unmanned delivery was made on Saturday. The drone completed the order in just 30 minutes.

“Along with one Moscow-based company we have conducted the first in the world commercial delivery via drones. Until now many similar variants have been shown on videos, but we tried to deliver real pizza to real customers, and we succeeded,” CEO of Dodo Pizza Fyodor Ovchinnikov told Itar-Tass news agency.

To make sure that pizza does not fall in wrong hand, the helicopter drone is equipped with built-in GPS and video cameras that are monitored by the restaurant's manager, who gives customers a phone call at the time of delivery.

As the manager sees a customer come outside to accept delivery, the pizza is lowered to him using a cable. The drone does not come lower than 20 meters above the ground, so that people could not steal it. If someone tries to pull on the cable, the drone triggers an emergency anti-theft mechanism releasing the cable, and the drone will fly away.

Since drones are not equipped to accept cash or cards, orders should be complete online or by phone and paid with a credit card at the time the order is placed.

This is what the mundanes want: regulation without end.

Every time you mention slashing red tape, they scream about businesses being able to do something without the Government's fist up their asses.

Fuck them.

Why are RC vehicles conflated with Drones? Oh, control.
