Convince him that socialism is anathema to economic liberty, and hence anathema to liberty in general?

... which is best accomplished by making him read The Road to Serfdom by Hayek or just about any Harry Browne or Rothbard book.

Just tell him Ron Paul actually has a chance of winning and/or influencing the nomination. Kucinich is a hippy.

Just wait until Kucinich is out of the race and then extend a courteous invitation.

Well, whatever you do, don't insult Kucinich on a personal level. That will make your friend defensive. First start off with the similarities of civil liberties and such. Then explain how the government hurts poor people, and tends to give some welfare to people, but more welfare to corporations. Then if your friend is an educated guy, try to explain the inflation tax, and how that's the worst tax for the poor, and Ron Paul is very against it. Just my idea.

Tell him the democrats have already decided on Clinton, Obama, or Edwards. He has no shot. Kucinich says he admires Paul.

Remind him that Ron Paul wants to "just come home" and has a better chance of winning, but he needs your friend's support.

Tell him that Kucinich voted for the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998, out of loyalty to the Clinton administration, unlike RP.
