The format for the donations is horrendous. What the hell is that "$1,000,000 for 40,000 minutes" thing even mean????
If I want to donate and I'm not even sure what to click on, there is a problem.
Money is being collected now
.
But money's NOT being refunded according to the RonPaulBlimp.com site:
http://ronpaulblimp.com/terms.php (http://ronpaulblimp.com/terms.phphttp://)
TERMS OF PURCHASE
You are buying timeshare advertising from Liberty Political Advertising, a for-profit political advertising agency.
You are not making a donation to any political candidate or committee.
Your purchase is not refundable.

There also is no "delivery date" promise either.
One could argue for a refund because the timeshare wasn't delivered as promised, however,
there has been no promise made as to a delivery date.
Very slick.
They can always say, "It's coming. We made no promise as to when."
And all the while, taking a salary from the money coming in, until the money is gone. They clearly state that they are FOR PROFIT for themselves.
Sneaky.

Thank you! If I was just someone stumbling on the site for the first time, it's looks just like a scam.

Without even looking in detail, I can take a fair guess at the reason.
They're attempting to allow individuals to make donations of unlimited size. To achieve this they are basically selling this as advertising space as opposed to forming a PAC which would have lots of limitations. Think of them as more of a match-maker between you and the blimp owners, or something like that.
This isn't a critique of just the blimp plan, but other issues like getting on the ballot in DC and other issues. I wish we had a somewhat centralized page (a wiki or something) where we knew what the major issues facing the campaign were. I'd be fine with having it be semi-moderated. I check ronpaulforums several times a day but it's tough to keep track of everything that's going on.

I agree, the format is horrendous. $350,000 for one month was a nice, clear goal.
I went on ronpaulblimp.com and was utterly confused by this $$$ for minutes thing --- until someone explained it to me.
Please go back to the original site with $350K for one month. Please.

But this could still be achieved by a non-profit organization, right?
I don't understand the for-profit part.

prbably easier to form than a non-profit, I formed coorproations before if I remember right there are some extra holes you to jump through for non-profit.

Yes it could. But that takes time. Sometimes a long time, and some money.
If there was just a time limit, say, one month, and then the money would be refunded after being held in escrow
if enough money hadn't been raised, that would be good.
But it's nothing like that, it's "give us money that we won't refund ever."
