Included in Dorner's manifesto were a series of political beliefs and views. He asserted various left-wing views in the manifesto, including supporting gun control,[30] criticizing National Rifle Association President Wayne LaPierre[31] and supporting the LGBT community.[32]
He expressed profound support for the Barack Obama administration, saying that he "shed a tear the night [he] was initially elected President in 2008."[33] He vehemently defends Obama from critics, stating that "you call him Kenyan, mongroid, halfrican, muslim, and FBHO, when in essence you are to address him as simply, President."[34] He appears to have voted for Obama in the 2012 election, saying "before you start with your argument that you believe I would vote for Obama because he has the same skin color as me, fuck you... I cracked a smiled when you (Obama) were re-elected in 2012 because I really didn’t think you were going to pull that one off."[35] He disparages President Obama's 2012 opponent, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, saying "Romney, stop being a sore loser."
He backs Hillary Clinton's potential 2016 presidential run.[36] He also supports a number of other Democratic politicians, including Joe Biden, Bill Clinton and Julian Castro. Commenting on George Zimmerman, he stated that "[it is] too bad Trayvon didn't smash your skull completely open, Zim."[37]
Dorner had a strong belief that the LAPD and other law enforcement institutions were prejudiced against blacks like himself. He claimed that "the LAPD stated that it is acceptable for fellow officers to call black officers ******s to their face and you will receive a slap on the wrist."[38]
