Seybold (mayor of Marion) is who the establishment supports for treasurer.

Most likely so they can "invest"taxpayer funds in big donor's companies. Scratching backs and all....

And then there's Don Bates, Jr. who has a lawsuit against him? Is this the same guy?

Yes, that guy is the tea party favorite. He will be standing trial for that case in August - right in the middle of election season. But his campaign blows it off as "old news". :rolleyes:

It was an exciting convention due to the treasurer's race. It went into 3 rounds of voting!
Kelly Mitchell, the underdog, wins!
The establishment, even in their territory with the deck stacked in their favor, couldn't pull off a win!

I must admit, I haven't followed this race that closely besides knowing the names. What makes Mitchell a good candidate for the office?
