The vote was today. The results will continue coming in through the weekend. The election is for councillors and for European members of parliament. The latter vote results will be withheld until Sunday, since other European countries are holding their vote over the weekend. But if the results thusfar are any indication, the EU election could be a rout for UKIP.

So far, in councils reporting,

Labour has gained 12 councillors
Tories have lost 50
Lib Dems have lost 19
and UKIP has gained 56!

Last I heard the share of the vote overall is:
40% for Labour
28% for UKIP
And something like 17-20% for the Tories (I can't remember exactly)
And much worse for the Lib Dems.

Surprisingly they've been much better than Sky. Sky is doing their best to hold back the numbers. But then they are more conservative and probably see UKIP as a threat to Tory control.
