From the video: Tommy Yancy, 32, father of two, was savagely beaten to death by five law enforcement officers during a routine traffic stop near the city of Imperial last Sunday, on Mother’s Day. Yancy, a veteran who suffered from PTSD, served in Afghanistan and Iraq in the 259th Field Service Unit following the 9/11 attacks.

He was subsequently pulled from his car and attacked by a police K-9 unit, hit by a taser, and attacked by five officers until he succumbed to the beating and died. A witnessed, who filmed the incident, can be heard screaming on the recording: “How long before you guys call an ambulance? Tommy Yancy: Veteran Pulled Over For Routine Traffic Stop, Beaten To Death By Cops As He Pleaded For Ambulance

Tommy Yancy was driving on Mother’s Day when a California Highway Patrol officer pulled him over for a routine stop, but the incident ended with the Iraq and Afghanistan veteran pleading for an ambulance as officers beat him to death.
The full details of the incident are just starting to emerge, and at the time it registered little more than a blip in local media and nothing in national media radar. A local newspaper, the Imperial Valley Press (http://www.ivpressonline.com/news/local/family-and-friends-gathered-to-raise-funds-for-tommy-yancy/article_9267622f-4627-5d8a-9cd0-d3adf9154873.html), wrote a short piece about the man’s family raising money, noting:
“The 32-year-old Yancy died following an altercation with law enforcement during a traffic stop May 11 in Imperial. The circumstances around the death and the traffic stop are still under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.”

But over the weekend more details emerged about the death of Tommy Yancy. A video posted to YouTube showed the incident, and while the footage was difficult to see, there was more information posted to the video’s description (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CrzoWqAkSM).
The video noted that Tommy Yancy is a father of two who served in the 259th Field Service Unit in both Iraq and Afghanistan, and returned suffering from PTSD.
Friends and family described Yancy as a loving father and jokester (http://www.dcclothesline.com/2014/05/19/veteran-stopped-front-license-plate-beat-death-5-cops/), one who kept in touch with his friends every week.
The section also shed light on the incident itself, claiming that Yancy was pulled from his car and beaten by five officers during the stop. Witnesses said Yancy could be heard screaming: “How long before you guys call an ambulance? Call an ambulance!”
The description adds:
Officers claim Yancy swung at an officer and attacked the K-9, however, near the end of the video, posted to YouTube on May 12 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoqvX… (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoqvXS7MDJg&app=desktop)), police are seen attempting to revive Yancy while a witness states, “All of this for one guy who wasn’t even resisting arrest,”. The officer is said to have received no serious injuries.

Another witness said that Tommy Yancy was “mad” and “uncooperative” during the traffic stop, but that police went too far in their beating. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.

According to the source of the video, who asked not to be named, his family has not been permitted to see his body, nor have they been given a cause of death.

A close friend of Yancy described him as "shy, and a comedian" and told me, he was an "excellent dad, who kept in contact with his army buddies every week." He also enjoyed basketball and loved hip-hop music. His sister-in-law, Jaqueline Hernandez, described him to me as "a very loving guy, loved his kids to death... they were his everything. Very funny down to earth guy, and loved by all".

Officers claim Yancy swung at an officer and attacked the K-9, however, near the end of the video, posted to YouTube on May 12 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoqvX... The officer is said to have received no serious injuries.

Deputies with the Imperial County sheriff's department were involved in another shooting last month, which took place on April 18. A teenager, Adrian Parra, was killed by multiple gunshot wounds. An honor roll student from Coachella Valley High School, Parra was described by loved ones as "a good person with great goals in mind." The Sheriff's department has refused to reveal whether or not the shooting was captured by one of their patrol car's dashboard cameras. Two officers involved in the shooting were placed on administrative leave, but have since returned to their duties.

Do we have another Albuquerque on our hands, or is this just a systematic wide spread problem that is under reported in most instances? Hint- its the latter.

Its time to demand the demilitarization of police and for them to be held accountable for their actions. We have become complacent and conditioned to accept brutality as normal mode of operation. "They are just doing their jobs", "They need to get home to their families", "Its dangerous!", yet a report put out by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund highlights that 2013 has had the "Lowest Level of Law Enforcement Fatalities in Six Decades" http://www.nleomf.org/assets/pdfs/rep... (http://www.nleomf.org/assets/pdfs/reports/2013-End-of-Year-Preliminary-Report.pdf)

So why is police violence escalating?

Why do we thank the agents of the State more than we do those who actually provide services that people want on the market?

That said, why is the guys vet status relevant? Its almost like they think it somehow makes this worse that he was a veteran. It doesn't.

The average Boobus would say, "oh how horrible, this poor vet who served, look how he's being treated".

The average freedom person would say, "observe the horrible hypocrisy...fighting for our freedoms, my aching ass".

When bystanders prefer to record the incident on a camera phone, rather than stop it via a judicious application of weaponry, we will get nothing more than utube videos.

This is true. Which is why the police are armed for war. One person is fairly ineffective with the pack animal if confronting them openly and will likely be making their last stand as well. These officers are savages. They are waging war and the populace is lacking a coordinated response. The police know this and will continue this behavior until a significant response is coordinated which results in something more than offenders getting a paid vacation.

This guy was screaming at the cops to call an ambulance - while he recorded them on (what was presumably) a camera-phone:

A witnessed [sic], who filmed the incident, can be heard screaming on the recording: “How long before you guys call an ambulance? Call an ambulance!”

Talk about passivity! I mean, geezum-crow! So as far as "judicious application of weaponry" goes - fat chance of that, it seems.

"Judicious application of cell phone" is apparently even too much to expect ...

ETA: The inquisitr.com article says that it was Yancy himself - rather than a video-recording witness - who demanded that the cops call an ambulance. Whichever the case may be, the point remains the same.

Purely rhetorical...wondering aloud.

And an expression of rage and frustration, as FF noted.

Why? Is this a problem?

For the permanent bench warmers, apparently so.

Always up to someone else to do it.

..."waiting for our permission..."

Nope. It's that very mindset that has led us to where we are today. Everybody's always waiting for someone else to do it.

These cops have merely had luck on their side. The tide is turning. People are getting sick of this shit. They WILL kill, injure or beat the WRONG person soon.

Predictably, there will be consequences for that, justice that cannot and will not be served with the current system...and it's about damn time.
