As much as I loathe the idea, its coming, whether we want it or not.

This is a Poll coming from Slashdot (http://slashdot.org/?nobeta=1), none the less, the question has merit. You all know Govt will try to put restrictions and regulations on Self Driving Vehicles. But lets go beyond just the "buy a Self Driving Licence" concept, what ELSE will be required?

Self Driving cars are going to probably be always online, and thus, be hackable. Will one of those requirements be that these cars come equipped with an up to date Anti Virus for Cars? What about maintenance? Will the owner of a car be held liable if their Anti Virus is not perfectly up to date? What about other maintenance? Checking tire pressure? What I am really thinking is how much extra effort is a Self Driving car going to require in order to be "allowed" on the road? Will the Owner of the Self Driving car be held responsible if they ignore warnings issued by the car? Check Oil? Rotate Tires? Update Anti Virus? Change Password? Will these cars be required to be online at ALL times? Will Govts have access to ALL locational data, and be able to run Remote Kill Switches against Self Driving Cars? What happens if the human driver is slightly too intoxicated, will that be recorded as well? Will the human owner be required to perform four hours of daily maintenance on a Self Driving car in order to keep their "permission" to own and operate such a car? How much will this all cost the owner in addition to standard "Fees" and other "Anti Virus Licenses" to keep the car going? Will cars be issued Drivers Licenses and Humans will NOT?

In essence, what are the Good and Bad aspects of the Self Driving car?
