Adobe Premiere Pro is very good and you can get good instructional videos showing how to use it via Lynda.com

Some people make these available by Bit Torrent. eg. www.mininova.org

Movie Maker does a decent job but does not allow advanced features like zooming around images or video within video and many other little professional touches.

I like Ulead VideoStudio.. Bullet-proof stable, lots of features and just as easy (if not easier) to use as WMM.
