It looks as if Indiana may soon join the list of red states signing up for the Affordable Care Act's Medicaid expansion.

Republican Gov. Mike Pence, after months of discussions with the Obama administration, offered a plan Thursday to expand Medicaid coverage to low-income uninsured Hoosiers.

About two dozen states still haven't joined the Affordable Care Act Medicaid expansion, which extends coverage to low-income adults earning up to 138 percent of the federal poverty level. Some states like Texas and Louisiana appear entrenched in their opposition to major elements of the health care law. Other Republican states, however, are still looking for ways to accept hundreds of millions, and even billions, in federal dollars to expand coverage — all while trying to maintain some distance from the Medicaid expansion envisioned by the ACA.

Among the states that haven't expanded, there are about 5 million poor adults who don't earn enough to qualify for federal subsidies on the Obamacare health insurance marketplaces.

Everyone in the U.S.S.R. and WARSAW PACT countries had access to healthcare... you just had to go through 20 different hurdles and obstacles to finally getting the treatment needed. Bu then, you were usually dead... sound familiar VA administration? So if Vets are receiving poor service and or treatments, what do you think the broke/poor Medicare crowd will receive?

Nice way round about way for population control

From the taxpayer view, this is far worse than the Obamacare expansion happening in every other state, at least on the front end. While there other plans call for the states to spend very little upfront, this requires IN to spend 1.5 billion in just the first 5 years. Costs might balloon after a few years in all of the states. But IN's plan will greatly hurt taxpayers from the start.

I'm tired of being taxed to pay for my own slavery.

The federal government taxes us, then bribe the states with our money, who then force us into a market we don't want to be in. And that be whether in medicine, food, energy, education, or any other federally inflated and conflated market.

He showed less arrogance than Rand when he promoted his faux-amnesty-reform plan.

He at least was willing to let Steve King rain punches on his shitty plan.
