The latest Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey of Likely North Carolina Voters finds that State House Speaker Thom Tillis, the winner of Tuesday’s Republican primary, earns 45% support to incumbent Democratic Senator Kay Hagan’s 44%. Five percent (5%) prefer some other candidate, and seven percent (7%) are undecided.

Didn't feel like starting a new thread so piggy backing off this one.

Im no fan of Tillis for many reasons but I just watched the local nbc station literally censor a Hagan attack ad twice during the sunday night football game broadcast. It was a new ad highlighting how Hagan's husband was the beneficiary of Obama stimulus package money. The ad 'tried' to run twice during halftime and both times it was disrupted. The first time the ad was cut off halfway through the ad before it revealed how much Hagan's husband received from the stimulus. Second time the ad literally 'hung' on the screen at the same point. It stayed hung on the screen for about 5 seconds then magically turned into a different anti Hagan ad. Neither time was the details of Hagan's husband's stimulus money allowed to air. Game is still on so I'm curious to see if they try to run it again. It was the same station that the ad footage cites.

Here's the ad:

Both times it cut off right after "Kay Hagan's husband Chip" - oops technical difficulties! sorry

Hagan complains how much Tillis cut the education budget and Tillis talks about how much he did not cut, gave, or whatever. They sound like a married couple.

No joke. I'm absolutely fed up with the ads as a whole but have never seen a network actively censor one candidate's ads before. The ad did get a full airing at the end of the game (after most people went to bed and the Broncos were blowing the 49ers out) but this time there was an anti-Tillis ad immediately afterward. I know the networks are generally in the pocket of the Dems but that was ridiculous.

Tillis-Hagan showdown could be nation’s most expensive Senate race ever

From the Koch brothers and Art Pope to George Soros and Michael Bloomberg, wealthy donors are making North Carolina’s U.S. Senate race one of America’s first $100 million contests.

Outside groups continue to flood the state with ads and accusations, forcing Democratic U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan and Republican Thom Tillis to keep scrambling for dollars in the campaign’s final two weeks.

Money spent or committed in the race is poised to top $103 million, according to public records and interviews with donors. Three-quarters of it comes from party and interest groups. More than $22 million is “dark money” from groups that don’t disclose their donors.

“It’s a stunning number, and it tells you two things,” says Larry Sabato, a University of Virginia political scientist. “That campaign finance is completely out of anybody’s control and North Carolina is a premier swing state.”
