Edit: the video in the DM article is better, not choppy.

With Nato forces withdrawing from the badlands of Afghanistan, the country's people need all the help they can get to keep extremists from once again seizing power.

But it seems a new intervention has come from an unlikely source... outer space.

U.S. Marines captured this incredible footage of what looks like a UFO hovering over a Taliban encampment - then blowing it to kingdom come.
The cosmic coalition: Huge explosions are seen as an unidentified aircraft bombards a Taliban base in Afghanistan, in this screengrab from a video shot by U.S. Marines fighting in the war-torn country

Doesn't seem to be hovering but flying towards the direction of the camera which can give the illusion it is hovering. Note it gets larger which means it is getting closer. Yes it is unidentified because it is to blury to tell what sort of aircraft it is.

Interesting.

It does show some strange flight characteristics, going from horizontal movement to vertical movement before firing. It's apparent airspeed is what I find most intriguing though. Seems to slow to avoid stall for an airplane.

Well, flying wings (including deltas) have always had interesting stall characteristics and low stall speeds. That said, seems half the new warplanes since the Harrier have had ducting and adjustable nozzles.

Also, there are no humans in the foreground of this vid so it's hard to tell if the first part is in slomo. That's just the kind of thing the USAF might do in order to provide both us and 'Them' with disinfo.

Are you sure the horizontal-to-vertical movement isn't just the aircraft turning toward the camera? That could easily create the illusion that it is switching from moving horizontally to vertically. When it's flying horizontally, the camera sees it's sideways movement easily. When it flies toward the camera, the camera can't detect how fast it's moving on a horizontal plane, only on a vertical plane, so it's not surprising to see that kind of change in movement.

I guess you overlooked Danke's post?

Correct, I was going to post earlier, but then I noticed my sprinkler suddenly shot off and I had a 40+ foot geyser in the backyard....

I have the original video on my comp, I recognized it was reversed immediately.

I really wish people would use their editing skills for something useful.

I figured it had to be fake right off. The 'UFO' was a Star Wars Imperial Cruiser.

Well, I knew it was fake because I have the original, and have used it in several videos of my own(anti-war type stuff, not adding special effects to it).

I couldn't tell you the difference between a Star Wars Imperial Cruiser, and any other sci-fi bullshit, TBH....<ducks>

Born in '77, but the Star Wars stuff has never appealed to me, ever. <ducks and runs to higher ground>

Ahh, you're just a youngster. :D Different standards of hollyweird. It's like (but not quite as marked as) someone growing up on Picard looking at Star Trek TOS like a cheesy soap opera with bad effects. In it's day that was hot shyt. Bt no, that doesn't get you on my bad list. You'd have to have loved the three Star Wars Prequels to earn that ignominity. :D :D
