Mark Dice, Stefan Molyneux, Josie Wales, and now Adam Kokesh:

http://www.christophercantwell.com/2014/05/08/adam-kokesh-banned-facebook/

The brand page for Adam Kokesh has been removed from Facebook. In a blog post on Adam’s site, Adam explains that a meme depicting a young girl badly burned in a drone strike by the Obama administration was reported for “Nudity or Pornography”. The report made it to Facebook’s moderators, and was removed.
Adam Kokesh Banned from Facebook

Adam Kokesh Banned from Facebook

The removal of the post itself is not surprising. Adam thinks it is politically motivated, and I can see why. It may well be that the post was reported for politically motivated reasons, but had I’ve non-political posts deleted for less. The girl in the image (see below) is nude save for some bandages and burn cream. The drastic step is that the entire page seems to have been permanently deleted from Facebook, and it comes on the heels of Josie the Outlaw, another libertarian YouTube personality, having her page removed without notice.Josie’s page has since been restored.

In the case of Adam’s page, the admins were notified of the post being removed, but are now unable to even log into their personal accounts. This is unusual. Regular readers of mine will recall that I’ve been banned from Facebook dozens of times. I’m the frequent target of leftists who report posts to Facebook whether they violate the terms or not. I have had entire pages deleted from Facebook, but I was always notified and told why. Only once was I unable to log into my personal account, and that was resolved after about 48 hours.

I am in contact with Adam by phone, and I will update this story as more information becomes available. Adam will also be making updates at AdamVsTheMan.com

http://www.christophercantwell.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/avtmbanned.jpg

Whatever the story behind this particular incident, it is becoming clear that Facebook is not a reliable means of communication, especially if you make political enemies. The reporting system functions in such a fashion that anybody can get anybody banned, just by having enough people who are willing to make reports. Google is no alternative, as we’ve seen Mark Dice, and Stefan Molyneux banned from YouTube.

This leaves us in a difficult position, especially content producers. There are social networking alternatives out there, like Diaspora, and Brutalist.me, and others. But whether you’re a content producer or just somebody trying to spread a message, you need to be not only where your audience is, but where there are others whom you can influence.

As I said when Dice was banned, we’re quickly seeing the social media scene become a lot more like cable news than the free and open internet we once thought was going to empower the average person. Not only are libertarian content producers being banned, but the platform is reducing the reach of pages to encourage content producers and other brands to buy advertisements, even if they already purchased ads to help build an organic audience.

It takes a lot of work to build up an audience like Adam, Mark, Stefan, Josie, or myself has. When those audience members rely on Facebook, or YouTube to keep up to date with us, and we get removed from those services without any recourse, that means years of effort are flushed down the toilet. Be sure to connect with your favorite content producers on platforms other than their social media outlets, because the more this happens, the less work we’re going to put into those mediums.

Live by the sword, die by the sword. Rely on Facebook for long and you'll see why millions of us don't bother.

Maybe instead a better course of action is to set an example by not using that crap at all, unless they really don't care about their message and only care about audience numbers in the short term.

I had a liberty themed group back in 2007 wih over 10,000 members and they disabled content on the group and the group itself several times back then. The same things were happening to the Ron Paul group so I came here. This is nearly 7 years ago now. This is expected behavior from Facebook by this point.

somehow violated their "community standards"?

I guess their community standards are all about remaining ignorant playing farmville and showing off selfies.

Reminds me why I don't use facebook. If you want any information of real importance and critical thought, you won't find it there.

If this image offends people...too bad. The truth is often ugly. It's not all about The NFL draft and who's winning American Idol. Those things are fun and all, but ultimately they don't mean shit.

Its a very sad situation. People like Adam rely on Fedbook to prop themselves up and spread their message, at the same time, they only end up propping up monstrosic tools of monopolies like Fedbook. That site needs to die and be replaced with something that doesnt profit by selling peoples data to everyone.

Presently people rely on facebook and youtube to get their message out. I predict that some time in the future even a private website could be just shut down because the government doesn't like the content.

Nothing undercuts public support of a war faster than the very real and very graphic images of what war actually looks like.

Those who are old enough will remember the iconic image of a young Vietnamese girl running naked from her village after a napalm attack. The girl had torn her burning clothes off in a desperate attempt to stay alive.

Here's the Wikipedia link to the full story:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phan_Thi_Kim_Phuc

The government and Powers That Be learned their lesson from that photo. The photo won a Pulitzer and helped to wake an already war-weary nation to the horrors of what was going on overseas.

I guess that's not going to be allowed in today's world. Hell, no. Gets in the way of huntin' them thar terrorists!:mad:

Was coming here to post the same thing. +rep.

Hell, even on this site I have seen mods substitute an url for an image. Somehow the depictions of the aftermath of violence perpetrated by governments seem to offend the sensibilities of those who are at work. NSFW? Nah, NSFL.

Asan Bibi, 9, (R) and her sister Salima,13, (L) stand in the hallway of Mirwais hospital October 13, 2009 Kandahar, Afghanistan. Both were burned when a helicopter fired into their tent in the middle of the night on October 3rd, according to their father. Three members of the family were killed in the incident. The family belongs to the Kuchi ethnic tribe, nomads living in tents out in the open desert whom are very vulnerable to a war they have little understanding of. Mirwais hospital in Kandahar city is the largest regional hospital in the area, supported by the ICRC and the Afghan government it caters to most of the war wounded in the most hostile part of the country. A recent U.N. report has described 2009 as the deadliest year in terms of civilian casualties in Afghanistan ever since the start of the U.S.-led war against Taliban in the country.

Ok so the meme is sort of accurate. Maybe half accurate?

It wasn't a drone strike. And it was only months after Obama got elected, before he was able to start withdrawing troops.

BREAKING: All Out Assault on Libertarians Both Online & On The Streets Continues
http://dollarvigilante.com/blog/2014/5/8/breaking-all-out-assault-on-libertarians-both-online-on-the-.html

Daily attacks on Libertarian sites are not a coincidence. They come just weeks after the mainstream press made much to do about "super flaggers." Yesterday Josie The Outlaw's Facebook page was taken down. And just a few hours ago Adam Kokesh's page was deleted by Fedbook. When will it stop? And what's behind the madness?

Alex Jone's material has been censored multiple times.

Mark Dice's YouTube page was taken down.

Then Stefan Molyneux's YouTube page. (see Anarchast here)

Then Josie The Outlaw's Facebook page. (see Anarchast here)

And now Adam Kokesh's Facebook. (see Anarchast here)

Why?

Censorship in Amerika
http://www.lewrockwell.com/lrc-blog/censorship-in-amerika/

Jeff Berwick has a post regarding YouTube and Statebook Facebook banning Adam Kokesh’s pages and Josie the Outlaw’s as well. I believe that everything is back up except for Adam Kokesh’s CIAbook Facebook page. Berwick suggests having a free market alternative to YouTube and Facebook, and has uploaded all his Dollar Vigilante videos onto Vimeo and moved his DNS and servers out of the U.S.

I know, supposedly those social websites are part of the “market” and are not government operations. But with the police state “flagging” mechanism especially with many police departments now having so much control over who gets flagged and taken down, the two Internet sites might as well be considered de facto government/police operations. Other libertarian-oriented pages taken down in recent months have included Mark Dice and Stephan Molyneux.
[...]
Also, besides libertarians, voluntaryists and otherwise freedom advocating people, supposedly the feds want to escalate their harassment of conservative media on the Internet and other outlets as well. While in the past it has been conservatives themselves who have advocated censorship of various ideas, alternative views, etc. that they have found “offensive,” now it appears that they will be the victims of such censorship, if the fascist moonbats of the Obama Administration and the FCC get their way. We already have the Obama IRS harassing conservative and Tea Party organizations. TPTB don’t like their authority questioned by us mere slaves.

I have to add Jim Quinn's The Burning Platform to the list. He was down for a week due to DDoS attacks:

I MIGHT BE PARANOID, BUT THAT DOESN’T MEAN THEY’RE NOT OUT TO GET ME
http://www.theburningplatform.com/2014/05/08/i-might-be-paranoid-but-that-doesnt-mean-theyre-not-out-to-get-me/

Last Thursday I was just minding my own business and posting my normal subversive material on The Burning Platform. I was again at war with Google, as they forced one of my new advertising partners to terminate me. I left the office at 4:30 to pick up my mother and take her out to Bertuccis for her birthday. After a few hours of hearing about neighbors, friends and relatives that have died, are dying, or want to die, I was mentally exhausted. I didn’t even try to logon to the site that evening. When I tried to logon Friday morning, I immediately got a timeout message.
[...]
I finally had someone who knew what they were talking about. His advice to DreamHost was spot on, but they were too stupid to understand what he was talking about. Sometime on Monday I realized my only hope was to convince The Man With No Name to take me on as a client. I asked him to save me from the banditos attacking my tiny site. As a retired gunfighter he was reluctant to enter this battle, but he slept on it and decided to do the right thing and help someone he had never met. He did it because he believes in the things I write about. On Tuesday he went to battle against an enemy that was pounding the site with 48.4 million hits over a 24 hour period.
[...]
I gave him access to my CloudFlare account and he immediately went to work assessing the situation with the top notch CloudFlare specialists. I can’t say enough about their professionalism and willingness to try new stuff to fight off the attack. I was copied on the email stream, but was completely clueless reading the various query and code banter that was taking place. The Man With No Name did tell me that this was an extremely sophisticated attack undertaken by really smart people. I guess that rules out the NSA and every other government agency.
[...]
So what did I learn from this experience?

First of all, this was a crime. What was done to my site over the last week was against the law. Do you think the authorities give a shit about me and my website? Do you think the police would undertake an investigation into this crime? Not a chance. They are too busy prosecuting farmers for selling fresh milk, ranchers for letting their cattle graze on grass, and tazering little old ladies on the side of the road. The government was either behind the cyber-attack or cheering it on from the sidelines. The rule of law no longer exists in this country. If you are not part of the establishment, you are the enemy.

I learned that TBP is having an impact. This was not an attack carried out by some pimply teenager in the Ukraine. It was an all-out assault on the truth. It was a blatant attempt at censorship. The attacker was attempting to put my website out of commission for good. They do not like what I have to say. They are worried that too many people will start paying attention to what is really happening in this country.

ETA from the comments: Just to let you know, the attack continues. There have been 32 million hit ATTEMPTS on the site in the last 24 hours. CloudFlare is fending them off.

Antiwar is under attack now:

Is It Coincidence We're Being Hacked As Our Fundraising Drive Starts?
http://www.antiwar.com/

A malware assault has been launched against the server hosting news.antiwar, original.antiwar, and the blog. Of course it's just a "coincidence" that this has occurred just as we've launched our fundraising drive. Or is it? As Glenn Greenwald has reported, the NSA is now in the business of spreading "industrial strength malware" to "enable the NSA to launch cyberattacks by corrupting and disrupting file downloads or denying access to websites."

That is precisely what is happening to us right now.

That's only half-true, though. The child was eviscerated.
