49 AR-15 mags.....

“Officers responded to a medical call relating to Mr. [Edward] Koller,” greenwich.patch.com (http://greenwich.patch.com/groups/police-and-fire/p/man-faces-weapons-drug-charges-after-greenwich-police-seize-assault-rifle-ammo) reports. While privacy laws prevent the police from disclosing the nature of Mr. Koller’s medical emergency, police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray was specific about Mr. Koller’s 10-20: in his car. “As a result of that contact and previous contacts with him, officers determined he had a weapon in the motor vehicle,” Gray said. Wait. What? What does that mean? Anyway, the cops discovered that Mr. K’s car was kitted out with guns, ammo and magazines. Apparently, none of those prohibited under Connecticut’s freshly-minted gun control laws. But the story doesn’t end there . . .
Disclaimer: the Patch story is pretty patchy written in the style normally attributed to bloggers in pajamas in their mother’s basement. But I’m thinking that this bit – “Koller had a pistol in his possession even though his state pistol permit was revoked in February 2014 by the Connecticut State Police (CSP)” – came before this bit . . .
Police obtained a search and seizure warrant that day and seized a Bushmaster XM 15 assault rifle and 49 high capacity magazines from his home, as well as anabolic steroids and a small amount of suspected cocaine, Gray said. “They are contraband items in Connecticut,” Gray said.
After the seizure, officers applied for an arrest warrant. Koller surrendered at police headquarters at 6:45 a.m. Monday, May 5. He was charged with 49 counts of failure to register high capacity magazines, and one count each of possession of narcotics, weapons in a motor vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal possession of an assault weapon and operating a motor vehicle without a license.

So no angel this Koller fellow, then. Presumably. But it doesn’t appear that Mr. Koller intended to do anything illegal with the prohibited items – unless the mysterious “medical emergency” was somehow suicide-related. In any event, it’ll be interesting to see how hard the prosecutor whacks Mr. Koller on the “high-cap mag” and “assault weapon” charges. And whether or not Koller will become a poster boy for firearms freedom in the Constitution State.

Greenwich Police say a man is in police custody after they confiscated an assault rifle, a pistol and 49 high-capacity magazines from his car and home.

The seizures were made April 23 when police responded to a medical call at the suspect's home, according to police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray. The suspect was found in his car on Stonehedge Drive South and "was in possession of guns, ammo and magazines," Gray said.

Edward A. Koller, 34, of 53 Stonehedge Dr. South, was taken to Greenwich Hospital as a result of that medical call. Privacy laws prohibit police from commenting on the nature of that medical call, Gray said.

"Officers responded to a medical call relating to Mr. Koller. As a result of that contact and previous contacts with him, officers determined he had a weapon in the motor vehicle," Gray said. "He was taken to the hospital. After officers obtained a search warrant, they found other weapons."

Police obtained a search and seizure warrant that day and seized a Bushmaster XM 15 assault rifle and 49 high capacity magazines from his home, as well as anabolic steroids and a small amount of suspected cocaine, Gray said. "They are contraband items in Connecticut," Gray said.

Gray said Koller reportedly had a pistol in his possession even though his state pistol permit was revoked in February 2014 by the Connecticut State Police (CSP). A message seeking comment was left with a (CSP) spokesman Monday afternoon.

Koller was held in lieu of a court-set $250,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear May 12 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

I like this propaganda tag: Assault Rifle

Do they call the automatic versions of that SWAT and the DOD use "Assault" or Assault Units?

No they don't... only when an individual uses it, then the nomenclature changes to FEAR.

How about we change the name of all LE to [Town] [Assault] [Department] ?

Tired of the propaganda from the Progressive/Marxists deceivers.

aw, c'mon, we can go for unanimity on the nullification, can't we? Why is a license "needed"? Goodness knows it is no guarantee of competency.

Meh, I guess so.

I would drag out a copy of 18 USC 201 and have the jury looking at everyone but the defendant.

The woman who called the police wasn't even there when the alleged threats were made against Koller's mom, who refuses to sign off on the alleged threats against her. The whole incident was initiated from hearsay.

Reports indicate Koller is well known to Greenwich Police -- despite having never been convicted of a crime in the state of Connecticut. Police said they have made more than 25 recorded contacts with Koller going back as far as 1995, including for violent threats made against family members last year.
...
According to arrest warrants, on the morning of April 23, Koller had been agitated and depressed. His mother, Judith Koller, listened as her son grew "intensely angry" and discussed using one of the several guns that he owned to shoot himself. Disturbed and concerned, she left the home for work, but detailed the incident to a friend of hers on the way there.

Shortly before 9 a.m., the friend reported to police that Judith Koller had told her Edward "threatened to kill her and whoever came into the house."

Special Response units and crisis negotiators quickly responded to the western midcountry home, setting a large perimeter around the house.

At that time, Koller had been about to leave the house. Driving down Stonehedge Drive, he saw the police units, turned his white Jeep Grand Cherokee around and reentered the house on foot.

About 50 minutes later, at 10:10 a.m., Koller voluntarily exited the house and reportedly surrendered himself to police. Officers took Koller into custody and transported him to Greenwich Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation, police said.

Maddox said Koller was released from the evaluation when psychiatrists found him "not to be a threat to himself or others," after three hours.

As Special Response units cleared the house, they found dozens of magazines and rounds alongside SWAT-style gear fitted for a large man like Koller in a room police knew he used from a prior incident. Police eventually received a search and seizure warrant, finding the stash of weapons and ammunition littered throughout the house.

Police also found almost seven grams of cocaine hidden inside an ottoman in Koller's bedroom, they said.

Police contacted Judith Koller, who refused to sign off on the account given by her friend, but related the events of earlier that morning. According to court documents, Koller told police her son suffered from anxiety and depression.

Koller originally had a pistol permit, but had it revoked by state police after a similar incident last year, when he threatened to shoot other family member.

Koller is now facing a number of charges, including possession of an assault weapon, 49 counts of failure to register high capacity magazines, carrying a gun without a permit, possessing a weapon within a motor vehicle, possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving a motor vehicle without a license.

No surprise. The first question is always who called the cops and why? Calling the cops is a dangerous weapon. They are like a rock at the top of the hill and the phone call gets them started on their way down; you don't want to be in their way after that starts.
