On Sunday, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin reminded former Florida Governor Jeb Bush that no matter how much of an "act of love" he thinks illegal immigration is, it is still illegal.

"I think that anybody who breaks a law in America as their first action putting their first foot on our homeland illegally, it may be an act of love from the heart, but it's illegal," Palin told NBC News after attending a rally for Iowa Senate candidate Joni Ernst. They are "called illegal immigrants for a reason," she added.

Bush, a potential 2016 presidential contender, has come under fire after his remarks, which he defended. Establishment Republican consultant Karl Rove, who was former President George W. Bush's chief strategist, said the remarks were not artful. Regardless, Bush has continued to push amnesty for all of the country's illegal immigrants, most recently at a "Davos in the Desert" education summit in Arizona."

Slaves who ran away and those who helped them were committing illegal acts. 'because the government says so' might be the dumbest line of reasoning anyone has ever conceived.

Slaves were brought here against their will. The other group not so much. Then the real kicker is that this group utilizes the monopoly of government (as shown by the prominent hispanic groups which have written large portions of this coming Amnesty bill) to punish the said citizens. It's bizarro world. La Raza and some of these other lobbying organizations are no better than AIPAC.

which would be an incredible waste of money considering the entrance into county is a two-way turnstile. I's very simple. Process those who break the existing laws (not for their illegal status though) and deport. For example, in America, we have something called automobile insurance and it's not cool to drink yourself into a stupor before colliding into a busful of children. End of story. Ignore the rest who keep their nose clean.

In absolute agreement.

The Mexican-American War was illegal too, but let's not let the taking of what ever .gov wants, get in the way.

About half of illegal immigrants enter the country legally- on things like student, work, or travel visas. Net illegal immigration has been zero since 2007- there are actually FEWER illegal immigrants (by about 2 million) than we had then. The "revolving door" is roughly the same number leaving as the number coming.

So if the problem is too many of them still here (since the problem is not hordes swarming across our borders), we need to ask ourselves how much more tax money and how many more government employees we need reducing personal freedoms (like checking everybody's IDs everywhere) to try to identify, round up, and deport those still here.

If they are found by violating other laws of this country, then sure, deport them. The rest aren't worth what it would cost us.

Have to admit she is pretty good at sound bites which appeal to her constituents.

That is exactly my understanding and POV.

What specific portions of the senate immigration bill do you think harms current citizens? E-verify and increased border patrol spending was added to please conservatives. The only other bad aspect of the bill were the pork provisions, but its not like any major legislation is different when it comes to pork.

The actual portion of the bill dealing with illegal aliens is very small. Most of the bill is filled up with changes such as replacing the diversity lottery visa with the point-based merit visa or easing the ability of Canadians to retire in the United States under the JOLT Act.

Exactly who are her "constituents"? Last I checked she did not hold any elected office. And if we are speaking of AK, is illegal immigration a big problem up there?
