"A social tipping point is when a government loses control over its people.

Such a bellwether was seen in Argentina recently with the beating of a thief. Although the event in question is a very minor one, it is an illustration of the social tipping point—the manner in which a government loses control over its people.

The beating of a thief is, in itself, a minor event, but these events often become social tipping points. (Witness the self-immolation of a street vendor in Tunisia in 2011.)

If there is a lesson to be learned from events such as this one in Argentina, it is that the EU and US are not far behind in their socio-economic/political deterioration. Perhaps the reason that the dominant powers in the world today are ramping up their internal defence systems so dramatically is that they see the writing on the wall."

I find the whole concept, that people Need to be controlled, highly offensive.

It is an Elitist Authoritarian concept.

The whole point of the US was that government would never have control of the people, it would be the other way around.

Yes. Why do the Bundyites only talk military stuff, showdown etc. and refuse to take action as " the rightful masters of the congress and the courts."? They will not even discuss it.

Is it because they are conditioned under current governmental authority and can only think violence being disabled from social or legal/political action?
