MANILA, Philippines – The mayor of Pasil in Kalinga province was shot by an unidentified man after his vehicle ran over a dog Saturday, April 26.
Kalinga police provincial director Police Senior Superintendent Victor Wanchakan said Pasil Mayor James Edduba was traveling to Tabuk City when his Ford pick-up truck hit a dog at the side of the road in Sitio Pinagan, Barangay Lucog, Tabuk City at about 7:30 pm Saturday, April 26.
The incident prompted the still-unidentified dog owner to shoot Edduba. The police report did not indicate whether Edduba was behind the wheel. (Editor's note: We previously repoted Edduba's name as Wanchakan.)
Edduba sustained wounds in his hip but is now in a stable condition. He was rushed to Tabuk Provincial Hospital after the incident then later transferred to St Paul Hospital in Tuguegarao, Cagayan.
