View Full Version : Help Liberty in Texas right now

Ladies and Gentlemen we have a very real opportunity right now in the lone star state to add two incredible liberty lovers to our ranks in the Texas House. They both are in runoffs for the GOP nomination in strong republican districts. They both were in first place in the first round. I am begging any of you who are able to help send me some reinforcements to Austin to help us continue the spread of liberty across this great state.

Please consider donating even $5 to them if you can. I personally have given, and block walked for both. With less than a month left we need all hands on deck. The establishment is scared to death of these guys winning and are pouring in thousands against them. Lets rise up together and kick some butt.

Hello Mr. Stickland. What about these individuals?

State House:
Ted Seago (District 16)
Jeffrey Larson (District 129)
Michael Franks (District 132)

State Senate:
Bob Hall (District 2)
Steve Toth (District 4)
Konni Burton (District 10)

Larson and Franks both lost, they did not make it to runoffs. I obviously can't speak for Jonathan, but Konni Burton, Steve Toth, and Bob Hall are all supposed to be allies. Seago appears alright as well, none of them are worth donating to when we have solid 100% liberty candidates like Eby and Fabby. We know those 2 will be with us on everything. They both came in first, but the establishment is sending the dough to their opponents right now.

Konni Burton is 98% there with us on Liberty issues. I am supporting her but feel shes got it under control.
Seago will be an ally on all issues except a few social ones, Bob Hall and Steve Toth are the same way. TJ and Philip need our help the most and are 100% alligned with Liberty. Hope this helps!

Proud to have the endorsement of JoAnn Fleming, Executive Director, Grassroots America – We the People PAC Two-term Chairman, TX Legislature’s TEA Party Caucus Advisory Committee

Here is what she had to say:

District 58 voters:

When I endorse candidates, I’m looking for fighters – men and women who will stand on principle – even if they must stand alone. We must save Texas from moderate and liberal Republicans, who spend too much, borrow too much, and who like federal dollars way too much!

We desperately need constitutionally conservative leadership in Austin – public servants who will put our state government into a constitution-sized box by cutting regulation and spending. This means getting state government back into its proper role – funding only those core constitutional functions of state government – not corporate welfare for special interests.

We must end the use of accounting gimmicks, deferrals, and raiding the Rainy Day Fund to balance the state budget, and instead, balance the state budget as families and small businesses balance theirs – by making tough choices based on needs, priorities, and what they can afford!

We need elected officials who will put the citizens of Texas first. That means jobs and taxpayer services should go to citizens and legal residents, period. Texans cannot afford a social safety net for all who want to jump in, and it is high time for our state officials to get a backbone and live by the oath of office – to uphold the rule of law – all of it, all of the time!

I am confident that Philip Eby is the kind of leader we need in the Texas House – a fighter who will simply do what is right!
Fellow Texans, it is time to make the Texas House the People’s House once more. Please vote for Philip Eby for State Representative. The conservative majority we’re building in the House needs him!

JoAnn Fleming, Executive Director, Grassroots America – We the People PAC Two-term Chairman, TX Legislature’s TEA Party Caucus Advisory Committee*

FreedomWorks PAC just endorsed them both!
http://freedomworks.org/content/freedomworks-pac-adds-texas-liberty-endorsements

Washington, DC- FreedomWorks PAC announced additional Texas endorsements today at the start of early voting for the May 27th runoff election. FreedomWorks PAC is encouraging members to support Matt Shaheen in HD-66, T.J. Fabby HD-10, and Philip Eby in HD-58. These great candidates will be instrumental in strengthening the values of the freedom movement in the Texas legislature.
Previous Texas endorsements by FreedomWorks PAC include candidate for Attorney General Ken Paxton (http://www.freedomworks.org/content/freedomworks-pac-endorses-ken-paxton-texas-attorney-general) and Konni Burton for SD-10 (http://www.freedomworks.org/content/freedomworks-america-celebrates-texas-primary-victories). Voting locations can be found at votetexas.gov (http://votetexas.gov/).
“Too often, the national media overlooks state level races in favor of federal ones, but all politics are local,” commented FreedomWorks PAC President Matt Kibbe. “With these candidates, we are witnessing a new generation of freedom fighters who will stand strong to protect the rights of Texans against federal overreach.”
Other candidates endorsed by FreedomWorks PAC that voters can support in November’s general election include Greg Abbot for Governor (http://www.freedomworks.org/content/freedomworks-pac-endorses-greg-abbott-texas-governor), Matt Rinaldi in HD-115, and Don Huffines in SD-16 (http://www.freedomworks.org/content/freedomworks-america-celebrates-texas-primary-victories).
FreedomWorks PAC is a grassroots service center to millions of activists nationwide who are dedicated to fighting for lower taxes, less government, and more freedom in every Congressional district in America. For more information about the PAC, please visit www.FreedomWorksPAC.org (http://freedomworks.org/content/www.FreedomWorksPAC.org) or on twitter @FreedomWorksPAC. For more information about the endorsement process, please contact Jackie Bodnar at JBodnar@FreedomWorks.org.

So folks who would be in their corner backed them. Fine. But, as others have and continue to say, backing from those with deep pockets help as well. Like Coulter backing Brannon (even though it didn't ultimately matter)- though I'm not a fan of her rhetoric, I'll admit that she does have a big following.

Term Limits
John has a strong belief that our Founding Fathers never intended for a permanent political class. In Congress, John will seek a Constitutional amendment that imposes term limits on both the House of Representatives and Senate.

Admirable, but I don't see it going anywhere, really. Is Ratcliffe solid or what some would call an ally?

I am suspicious ... I think this was more about defeating a long-term incumbant than picking up a liberty guy. Ratcliffe never identified himself as a Tea Party candidate and did not solicit Tea Party support until the run-off.

Mr.NoSmile
05-30-2014, 05:48 PM
Not playing fair?? How much did the Tea Party target McConnell and headlines followed?

Mitch McConnell Is Now Tea Party Enemy No. 1

In Kentucky, Tea Party activists said McConnell’s role in negotiating the deal with Democratic leaders was disappointing, but not surprising. “He’s catching an awful lot of flak at home for it today, which he deserves,” said Scott Hofstra of the United Kentucky Tea Party, which is supporting Bevin. “It’s just the kind of corruption and backroom deal that we expected of him.”

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/10/18/mitch-mcconnell-is-now-tea-party-enemy-no-1.html

Tea Party Sets Its Sights on Mitch McConnell
Tea party vows to defeat McConnell, just as it did Lugar.

Greg Fettig, who helped found the Hoosiers For A Conservative Senate group that assisted upstart candidate Richard Mourdock during the last election cycle, has determined that McConnell GOP primary challenger Matt Bevin is the movement's best chance for a seismic upset this year.

"It is a perfect storm against McConnell," Fettig says. "We don't intend to just give him a good run for his money, we intend to beat him. [If] we beat McConnell, we can prove we can do back-to-back Senate races and we can take anybody out if we work together."

http://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2014/01/17/tea-party-sets-its-sights-on-mitch-mcconnell

Tea Party has and still has allies in the press. But they don't have the money or properly tailored message that goes beyond 'Liberty this' and 'Establishment that.' They set their hopes up too high. Even folks here who said things akin to 'When Brannon is in the U.S. Senate alongside Paul, Lee and Cruz' or things of that short can, at times, have too high hopes.
