LAS VEGAS -- Metro Police say a barricade situation near Alexander Road and Lamb Boulevard ended peacefully early Wednesday morning.
According to police, the incident started when Child Protective Services took the children away from the couple Tuesday. The children were put into the custody of their grandparents. However, the couple went to the grandparents' home, took the children, returned to their home and refused to come out of the house for several hours.
The children are 9 and 12 years old.
The parents eventually surrendered peacefully, and the children are safe.

LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- Police are on the scene of a barricade situation on the 4600 block of Alexander involving children.
According to Metro, the barricade involves two parents who did not want to give their two children to Child Protective Services.
Both children are believed to be under 10 years old.
The barricade began around 9 p.m. at a home near Alexander Road and Lamb Boulevard.
SWAT negotiators have been called out to the residence and are treating this as a hostage situation.
Alexander Road is shut down between Lamb Boulevard and Studio Street.
