I was thinking... The beginning of the new year allows for those who have maxed out this years donations to start on a clean slate. What if we dropped a huge money bomb right before the january 3rd Iowa caucus? Ron Paul would be all over the news right as Iowans go to the caucuses. It would make for a very cool influence on the start of the race. Just a thought. Does anyone else agree? The bomb would need to be dropped on January the 1st and then on the 2nd and 3rd the media would cover it which would then propel him through all the caucuses. Iowa Ron Paul wins, New Hampshire follows, and so on.

We have plenty of time, too, to get this one out and off the ground.

Here are some events that have happened in history on that day:

1863 Emancipation Proclaimation(ending of slavery)

1862 US Income tax put in place

1958 European Union was formed

1752 Betsy Ross was born (maker of American flag)

404 Last gladiator competition in Rome =P

can someone clarify what the rules are for donating? i've seen some people claim that you get 2300 every quarter, every election, and now every year to start fresh

I don't think the EU is a good idea considering the recent question posed to Ron Paul about the North American Union.

As for the idea, I'm all for money bombs since in 2008 I can actually start donating. I'm fasting to save up for the New Year ;)

Doing something on 1/1 is a great idea.

Is that really how it works? I thought it was $2300 per campaign. If I've given $2300 to Ron Paul's campaign in 2007, am I allowed to donate more next year? I did not think so. Someone who knows the rules needs to straighten this out post haste.

It could be spun in a way to say we don't want that to happen here so donate on that day. Just a thought. =P Though I do prefer a more positive approach such as donating to free ourselves from modern slavery.

It's 2300 per election cycle so that means you can give 2300 towards the primary election and 2300 again towards the general election. Ron Paul is only accepting donations for the primary at this time.

How does that work? I thought only citizens 18 and over could donate to the campaign

I would like to know where these laws are found so I can examine them myself. I've heard the news say per campaign and some say per campaign per year. So not sure yet.

My first grader is very excited and asked me if I could make a donation in his name. He learned about the constitution and after he understood the Dr. Paul didn't write it he wanted to know more and more.

I've read minority rules before but I don't remember what they were. Something about the kiddos giving of their own consciousness and free will without persusion or some such thing.

This is all I know:

From the official site...
6. Confirm Your Eligibility
Federal law requires all online contributors to confirm that the following statements are true and accurate. If you cannot confirm each statement, you are not eligible to contribute to the Ron Paul 2008 Presidential Campaign Committee.

1. This contribution is made on a personal credit or debit card for which I have the legal obligation to pay, and is made neither on a corporate or business entity card nor on the card of another.

2. I am a United States citizen or a lawfully-admitted permanent resident.

3. I am making this contribution with my own personal funds, and I will not be reimbursed by anyone for this contribution.

4. I am not a federal government contractor.

5. I am at least 18 years of age.

* By checking this box, I confirm that each of the above statements is true and accurate.

It has to be money that they have earned themselves.

Well he makes money himslef by doing chores, reading and getting gifts. If he wants to donate his own money, I have to do it for him. But the web form says you have to be 18, so, how can a minor donate under those rules? Mail in a money order in 7 year old handwriting?

$2,300 per campaign. $4,600 total. Half for the primaries. Half for the general.

If you're under 18 and are serious about donating, Please Call the campaign office. It is common for campaigns to collect money from younger donors and I suspect they'll take your donation by phone or mail. Do you have a checkbook? Probably should arrange wire transfer or something.

Check the other campaigns websites, I've seen them set their online age at 16. It is probably set at 18 just to be safe, but it can be done if its an honest contribution of your money and it isn't your parents funneling their money through your name.

Please call and donate! You'll be so proud to take this sacrifice for Ron Paul's message.

A news story is in no way the law. In fact, more often then not they represent the law inaccurately.

I was wondering where this specific law is found so I can examine it for myself from the law makers.

Thanks!

I like the Income Tax one and the Emancipation one. I guess someone could make a video with the "THIS... IS... SPARTAAA..." clip with Ron Paul's face, or whatever, but it shouldn't be the main theme.

Donate200.org is already doing a new year fundraiser, it's just not being talked about cause we're focusing on the teaparty right now, don't get ditracted, focus on the teaparty first.

No, it doesn't, as a few people have already noted on this thread. The limit is $2300 per individual for the primary. The change of calendar year has nothing to do with it.

There was some talk of a loophole in the rules if New Hampshire had held their primary in December, but that didn't happen.

Dunno...
