I came across a story on Fark about 'numbers stations'. It's like an old form of encryption from the Cold War era that seems sort of relevant again. ?

They have a recording of it at the link you can listen to. The "Swedish rhapsody" is pretty catchy and sort of says it all.

If your not getting enough comments here, Fark will have a few;

They got popular again back when Lost was on. For a few episodes they thought they were picking up a signal from one. A show right now called The Americans, sometimes they get messages from a numbers station.

It's been a long time since I've listened to anything on the airwaves...well I guess my car radio counts.

When I was a kid we had an old radio that would pick up all kinds of things. I don't ever remember hearing of any thing called Number Stations. The closet I guess I will ever come to it now was the recording on the link above.

It had the taste of freedom about it.

John Cusack starred in a 2013 movie set in a numbers station, called (appropriately enough) The Numbers Station: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1659338/

And IIRC, a numbers station and numbers-station broadcasts also featured in some of the episodes of the TV series Fringe.
