I'm just about 20 miles from 16th and K, so in the event of a 10k suitcase nuke I'd be pretty safe.
I also live in a concrete block house, so it would be nice to be vindicated for all the energy inefficiency I've been paying for for more than a decade now.

However, there are some things to note about this.

First, nobody but the US and the USSR ever actually built a suitcase nuke.
Second, the highest yield of any of them is (was?) about 5kt. I would literally have nothing to worry about 20 miles away. I would probably keep my internet access.

Third, and most importantly, the ones that we know to be actually operational still are the ones which still employ 1960s technology.
Development of nuclear weapons was severely curtailed by treaty starting in the 1970s. There's a reason why we still maintain nuclear bomber fleets and nuclear armed subs. The reason is because the delivery of ICBMs is still 1970s era when it comes to accuracy. They maintain the bomber fleets because if you send a bomber over a target you have a prayer of actually hitting something.

That's right, ladies and gentlemen... we can read newspapers from space, but we can't target a nuclear missile properly.

The reason why ICBMs break up into dozens of warheads that carpet a gigantic area is quite simply because they wanted to make sure they actually hit what they were aiming at.

I'm personally not really concerned about relatively tiny yield suitcase nukes in the hands of terrorists.
I'm a lot more personally worried about keeping on Russia's good side.
