Dawned on me today after talking to someone about my bumper sticker...
They said "I am very happy to see a REPULICAN sticker around here".
I said "so you know who Rp is?"
He say`s "Oh yea, I would vote for him but the Republicans I know dont like him"
I asked "How many of your friends really know him and his positions"
He says " I dont really know"
I ended by saying "well you like him and they like you, you should get a bumper sticker and be proud of your choice and dont worry this guy is so good that everyone will be jumping on board at some point" He laughs I say "They will remember that you were the first one they know to put a sticker on your car and you will all be laughing about their reluctance to support him"
His expression changed to serious and asked where to get one.
Can we just start assuming the best. When you comment on a story or to a naysayer just smile at them knowingly and say "I was in your shoes too, I remember that feeling. Dont worry, at some point you will be with us"
I feel great...it was a great exchange with this guy....you could just see the wheels turning in his head and he had to be 50+ years old.....so much for stereotyping.
