According to several donors at the Republican Jewish Coalition conference held in Las Vegas last weekend, the billionaire casino magnate Sheldon Adelson is prepared to fund a campaign against Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) if he picks up increased support during his widely anticipated presidential run in 2016.

According to TIME, one unnamed former Mitt Romney bundler said it was "scary" that Paul could win the Iowa caucus and the New Hampshire primary.

Hmm...now's the time for Rand to push for legalized internet gambling. Kick Adelson right in the nuts.

I wonder how someone like Adelson would propose stopping people from freely gambling with Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. lol

Adelson is given too much credibility. He's a legend in his own mind. Last time I saw him, he was backing Newt Gingrich for President. We all know how that turned out.

Forget Adelson, outside of backing a Bush. Kiss of death for Jeb if he decides to run. After all, the United States is doing so well under the Bush/Clinton dynasties; we are all clamoring for more. And George Bush's bastard son, Barry Soetoro adds more icing to the cake.

No more dynasties.

Id be more focussed on destroying the lives of unfriendly media, such as Jennifer Rubin. And I mean destroy

Sheldon could single-handedly fund a general campaign if he wanted. Looks like he's upping the ante this round. A real bummer.

Did you miss the part where he spent $100 million on Gingrich 2012?

Frankly, Rand does have a problem on foreign policy. He's much too inclined to support "appeasement" of GOP hawks. This leads into his taking incoherent and contradictory positions as he did in his NY Times Op-ed on Ukraine. Rand doesn't need to worry about "mainstream" Republicans. They're all on his side. All the polls show that. They favor non-intervention but, "never say never," there may be reasonable exceptions to a non-interventionist rule. That is the message Rand is trying to convey. We need a balanced approach to the issues of intervention and non-intervention. The problem is that back-and-forth is not balance. Rand needs to develop a consistent philosophy and apply that philosophy to all the areas of possible contention around the world and be prepared to respond to questions about those areas in a clear and consistent way.

He needs to quit trying to be hawkish on some issues to counter balance his dovishness. I think I know what he's trying to do. He knows he isn't going to win over the hawks, but he does want to diffuse the issue of "isolationism." He wants to distance himself from his father. Unfortunately, this has led to his back-and-forth incoherence, and it's something he needs to address and get a handle on, and he needs to do it soon.

As for the neo-cons and other warmongers, I think Rand should quit quoting Ronald Reagan and start quoting George W. Bush. Bush actually made some very fine and succinct statements about foreign policy back in the 2000 campaign. Things like, "We should mind our own business." I think there's a gold mine of quotations that could be used, and if Bush said it, you know it wasn't something so complicated that it would go over people's heads.

Sorry, but 100 million dollars of negative ads will do lots of damage. It's not who he's backing, he just wants to stop Rand.

Ron did that and look what it got him. Republicans revere Reagan. Bush, not so much.

Bush isn't really condemned by the GOP though.
