Rogers to target 'celebrity politicians'

House Intelligence Chairman Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) said Sunday that his new radio gig will give him the chance to stand up to "celebrity politicians" with dangerous ideas on national security.

Rogers, who announced he would not seek reelection on Friday, said he was proud of the work he has done as chairman.

But he said could not pass up the chance to talk to people “every single day from California to Iowa to New Hampshire to South Carolina,” and to combat what he thinks are dangerous comments about national security.

“There’s a lot of celebrity politicians that are using issues, candidly, in Washington, D.C., today that are detrimental to the national security of the United States, and the politics in Washington has gotten as small as I’ve ever seen it,” Rogers said, declining to name the politicians to which he was referring.

I seriously hope that none of the politicians he is talking about pays any attention at all to him.

If this scumbag thinks he's just going to get up on the air and thrive with that sort of message, he's delusional. Depending on who puts him on air, he'll be in a fixed market and will never break into any of the big timers' slots. Then, once the ratings come in after the first month, advertising will dry up unless Adelson is advertising weekend packages at his casinos nonstop.

Rep. Mike Rogers previews radio plans

Rep. Mike Rogers, the outgoing chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, will launch a thrice-daily radio segment on Cumulus radio stations following his resignation from Congress at the end of the year, the broadcaster told POLITICO this week.

"Something to Think About With Mike Rogers" will air three times daily on radio stations nationwide beginning Jan. 5. In the segments, the former Army officer and FBI agent will provide commentary on national security and international affairs, among other topics.

"This is a huge opportunity to talk to the country about American exceptionalism and national security in a way that's interesting and different," the Michigan Republican said in an interview. "There won't be anything canned about these segments."

Rogers served as an officer in the U.S. Army, a special agent in the FBI and a Michigan state senator before his election to Congress in 2000. He became chairman in 2011. In March, he announced that he would not seek reelection and would join Cumulus as a radio host.

Cumulus says Rogers' "daily vignettes" will serve as his "introduction to a broader platform."
