This one hits close to home.

As part of its plan to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, the Obama administration is targeting the dairy industry to reduce methane emissions in their operations.

This comes despite falling methane emission levels across the economy since 1990.

The White House has proposed cutting methane emissions from the dairy industry by 25 percent by 2020. Although U.S. agriculture only accounts for about 9 percent of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, it makes up a sizeable portion of methane emissions — which is a very potent greenhouse gas.

So are they going to put scrubbers on the rectum of every cow to capture the farts and catalyze them?

Humm... maybe I should start a business making catalytic converters for cows.

And how about all of the dead things that fall to the bottom of the oceans?

Deborah Nardone, campaign director of the Sierra Club’s Keeping Dirty Fuels in the Ground campaign. “However, even with the most rigorous methane controls and monitoring in place, we will still fall short of what is needed to fight climate disruption if we do not reduce our reliance on these dirty fossil fuels.”

Ah, so now it's not "global warming" nor even "climate change" but "climate disruption".

It's just not a day in AmeriKa if something isn't being regulated, banned or "cracked down" on.

Perfect way to put another nail in the coffin of the small farmer.

No, they'll just SWAT a few hapless farmers who didn't pay the $1500 annual fart tax on each cow, until the herd dies off.

I once learned a secret of making beans pretty much fart free but I once spoke openly of it and may have disrupted my favorite past time.

I'm not sure it would be wise to tamper with the cattle's happiness just for another pseudoscience.

All that is going to do is make the price of milk go up. They might as well just tax the heck out of milk and let the cows fart as they will.

They can't even regulate themselves. I'll bet there is more farting going on in congress than all dairy farms combined.

This isn't really new or what's his names fault. He is just the puppet, front man at the moment. I've heard talk of this for years. The cows are still grinning...

That was my first thought, it has to be the onion. But then I remembered, this really isn't a dream.

Are there more cattle now than used to be in the wild, here or any other place?

Theoretically, I believe the issue is one of balance. There are more cows eating more grain with fewer trees and fewer wide expanses of grasses. The configuration of the whole ecosystem is different.

Having said that, I don't think regulation is any sort of answer to this. If anything, government intervention encourages the sort of stupidity that leads to an imbalance in the first place.

I guess in Mexico that would require a Pedo metro.

I know this, because when I was in Mexico I had a meter that told how far I walked and when one of the locals asked what it was, I told them it was a pedo metro and they started laughing. It seems the word pedo means fart in Spanish.
