Senator Rand Paul and FreedomWorks Offer President Obama Lawsuit Settlement Option

WASHINGTON, DC – Earlier this week, President Obama indicated that he would like to end the collection of metadata by the National Security Agency. Rand Paul and FreedomWorks are currently plaintiffs in Federal District Court over this issue. While the White House has indicated that new legislation is needed to end mass data collection, a court settlement would put an immediate halt to this illegal and unconstitutional activity.

Lead Counsel Ken Cuccinelli sent a letter today to the Department of Justice outlining the terms of a settlement which would accomplish exactly what the White House has called for in the press.

“If the White House is serious, they don’t need to wait for legislation from Congress. They can act today to settle this matter. They should stop collecting phone data. They should acknowledge they need a warrant to access such information in the future and they should accept that this data is protected by our Fourth Amendment rights,” said Rand Paul.

Matt Kibbe, President of FreedomWorks added, “It’s interesting that the President chooses civil liberties to drag his feet when it comes to using his ‘pen and his phone.’ Settling the lawsuit with Rand Paul and FreedomWorks would restore the rights of every American with a phone to protection from unwarranted searches and seizures. While we still need to continue the fight to protect our rights online, settling our lawsuit would be a good start.”

I really don't like the popularization of this kind of language... "Settling the lawsuit with Rand Paul and FreedomWorks ..."

This is a social mind screw that solicits the notion to the people to accept that their historical processes for representation have been repatriated and surrendered to corporations like FreedomWorks...which, really, is only a part of the Koch network. I'm beginning to not like Rand Paul. He's forgetting more and more each day who is whom in the wonderful world of we the people. And Matt Kibbe is not an elected representative of the people in any way. He heads a political corporation like many others which have been funded to hijack the identity of the people and partnered up with politicians who seem to have forgotten who they are supposed to serve.

Anyhoo. I had shared this elsewhere but am reminded of it again here.

Now we even settle out of court for a compromise on rights violations?

And, will the records still be kept for a period of time by whoever has them (corporations). And, can you opt out of them being stored? And if you can opt out will they be unacceptable as evidence if they just happen to still be around anyway?

Is this just about phone records?

Now we even settle out of court for a compromise on rights violations?

Well. Firstly, this is what happens when we let political corporations assume the peoples identity in such situations. And we must remember, specifically, the pockets in which many of these political corporations evolve. Essentially, that's who they ultimately serve.

Clyde, something that has been largely neglected in the discussion as whole is the fact that the bulk of the "spying" has been done in the corporate sector. No longer do economies and trade depend upon a port some place. Uh-uh. Nope. Everything is via "space". Business is digital. And we're the champions in space. Right? Now, this is another reason why I think everyone is over reacting to a theoretical crash of the economy but that's a different discussion.

The point is that some very powerful corporations are the ones who are being spied on the most through penetration into the financial world by the intelligence agencies. And they don't like it (also important to note the recent trend in deaths in the financial/technological world ). Sure, it sounds like it's all about us useless eaters and what we do on the phone but that's crap.

I almost want to excuse Rand for being a tool just because I don't really think he understands the depth in which he's serving the role.
