Police warn high schoolers about Assassins game going too far

MERRIMACK, N.H. —Merrimack police are warning high school students about a game called Assassins that could go too far.

The goal of the popular senior activity is to "assassinate" an assigned target with a squirt gun.

On Wednesday, teens playing the game got into a minor vehicle crash. The incident has officers concerned that someone may get injured.

Police took to Facebook to urge students participating in the game to be responsible.

Senior Nicholas Peters isn’t playing the game, but said Assassins has been around for years. However, the tactics participants are using are complicated.

“In the past, we have had reports of suspicious persons, prowlers, while the kids are playing this game, and we would hate to see some type of tragic event happen,” said Merrimack Police Capt. Peter Albert.

Participants play the game off of school grounds. It is not a school-endorsed event.

“It is something that the administration does not condone, nor is a specific class activity,” said Merrimack High School Principal Kenneth Johnson. “It takes place exclusively off campus.”

Teens can follow each other and hide in bushes outside their target’s home. They can get them anywhere, which can be a problem.

“They’re looking over their shoulder. They’re not paying attention,” said parent Paul Peters.

The teens playing the game who were in the minor crash may face charges. No one was injured in the crash; however, police said it was reckless and want people to use common sense and not do anything illegal.

Given the amount of violence taking place at schools across the country, particularly with guns, some parents said the game is inappropriate. Teens, however, said they are having fun.

The game ends when the last person is standing.

Monopoly on Violence, even playful simulated violence.

That game was fun in H.S. You could always tell the players by their sheer paranoia.

When did it trickle down to HS? i remember it as a college game, playing on campus was safer and tolerated and there used to more creative "weapons' like a matchbook/rubberband/button(clothing) 'bomb'/'booby trap'.

What a ***. Kids are kids and I doubt any amount of repression is going to change that... Oh wait, Ritalin... damn...

Are people really such pussies anymore that they have to get this worked up over kids playing their kid games?

Cue unlateral ban on non-campus activities in 3... 2...

Yes, and a meteor may strike the earth and extinguish all life. Get a fyckin' grip on yourselves, ye ****.

“They’re looking over their shoulder. They’re not paying attention,” said parent Paul Peters.

Well Miss Peters, perhaps you should trade your ovaries in for some testicles. Might ease your daily fears of your child being moistened.

The teens playing the game who were in the minor crash may face charges.

Gee, how surprising is this?

No one was injured in the crash; however, police said it was reckless and want people to use common sense and not do anything illegal.

OK hold up now... MAY face charges? Are Theye not sure? If not, why not? Did they "break the law" or not? Why don't they know yet? Are they not the "experts"? Or are they perhaps casting about for a basis in order to charge them? And with what, illegal behavior of a teen as a teen?

Seems there might be a legitimate role for "government" after all: keeping a database of morons who should be banned from the reproductive cycle.

The game ends when the last person is standing.

Seems a cool game, and harmless. BAN IT!

Yes.

I'm sure she has considered it, and decided rendering her husbands useless will have to suffice.

And of course the "news" is instrumental in raising the alarm on this potentially dangerous and some say inappropriate activity.

“They’re looking over their shoulder. They’re not paying attention,” said parent Paul Peters.

As opposed to, say, looking down at their iPad or "Smart" phone and not paying attention.

Good training for future military/cops/cia/fbi/dhs/DOE.

Where did kids used to play this game? On Campus!

But schools have adopted these zero tolerance policies, so the game is banned for the safe environment and driven out to the streets where you have all these issues and dangers.

Government creates a problem, fails to admit it's the problem, and now wants to clamp down on a problem it created itself. how typical!
