AURORA - Aurora Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting on the Anschutz Medical Campus that left one man dead.

The officer was not injured in the shooting around 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Authorities say the man shot and killed was a current employee of University of Colorado Hospital. The man recently resigned. His last day was to be March 28. His name has not been released.

Aurora Police say officers from the University of Colorado Denver Police Department responded to a report of a suicidal man in a parking garage at the Anschutz Medical Campus.

When officers found the vehicle, the man drove off, and officers followed him to the intersection of East 16th Avenue and North Quentin Street.

During the traffic stop, the employee was shot, according to Aurora Police. The man was taken to the University of Colorado Hospital where he died a short time later.

CU-Denver officials say the medical campus is safe, and there is no danger to the public. The Anschutz campus includes University of Colorado Hospital and facilities for CU-Denver.

The CU-Denver Police Department is placing the officer involved on paid administrative leave during the investigation. Aurora Police originally reported the incident happened at 9 p.m. Wednesday, but APD later revised that to 7 p.m.

I can just imagine while we all contemplate... let me take a swing at it:

Waiting for the PD official report by Capt. 'Canned-Response', "The disturbed and violent suicidal suspect's intention from the very beginning was just another case of "Suicide by Cop". The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on paid vacation for a month, to recuperate from the traumatic and tragic situation he had to endure through in the safety of the public."

This case has been closed

I find it interesting that he was named by a relative on a Blog ,,prior to being Identified.. Complete with "reasonable excuses" and justification of the police.

From the news articles,, he was running..
Running from police (though no crime is alleged) in such panik that he drove through barriers of the parking garage.. and was stopped and shot immediately after.

thing that make you go Hmmm,,
