Ex-RT Anchor Liz Wahl's Neoconservative Connection

Liz Wahl's recent on-air resignation stunt from Russia Today Television (RT) was blatant self-promotion, which boiled down to nothing more than a declaration that Russia Today comes from a Russian perspective. Thank you "Captain Obvious". Apparently Wahl did not make that connection before taking the job. If media spin, objectivity and extreme pushing of agendas is a major concern for Wahl, someone better break the news to her about the mainstream media before she takes a job at CNN.

It should also come as no surprise to anyone with an in-depth knowledge of American politics that Liz Wahl's "disgruntled" employee statement had a decidedly neoconservative slant. This leads to questions about her associations. Is she connected to any prominent neoconservative pundits or politicians?

It didn't take long for one neoconservative journalist to spill the beans and perhaps even take some credit for influencing Wahl. That writer is James Kirchick. Following in the path of many neoconservative founders and pundits, Kirchick is a former leftist who converted to neoconservatism (http://rightweb.irc-online.org/profile/kirchick_james). He is also a contributor at The Daily Beast.

After Wahl's resignation, Kirchick wrote the following article (http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/03/05/exclusive-rt-today-anchor-liz-wahl-explains-why-she-quit.html) which detailed his inside knowledge of the situation:

"Wahl initially reached out to me in August, after I launched my own impromptu protest on RT against Putin’s homophobic repression. Wahl felt morally compromised working for the network, she told me, but wasn’t yet prepared to quit. We stayed in touch periodically over the past 6 months, and I always encouraged her to follow her conscience in making a decision about her professional future. (http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/03/05/exclusive-rt-today-anchor-liz-wahl-explains-why-she-quit.html)"

It certainly appears that he was successful in encouraging her to take action. Did he suggest the on-air tirade? Maybe, but that's an irrelevant question, unless Kirchick is also her agent. Suffice it to say, he was in a position to influence her, and the result was a stunt that that could be used to further the neoconservative agenda.

Yeah, it didn't make sense, they way she did it as well as knowing good a well beforehand. So, BUMP!

I will also like to see those emails she sent to her boss complaining about the Russian slant RT was taking. She should at least complain or maybe try to change things before leaving.

She was thinking about quitting before she even contacted Kirchick so I don't know if she only quit becasue of his influence. Also having a neoconservative contact does not necessarily make one a neoconservative. Some of you probably have neoconservative or even liberal friends.

... so I don't know ...

We'll just leave that as the relevant part.

Kirchick did the first on-air highjack at RT. There is no way that can not be called an "influence". And he had six months of interaction with her after that before she copied him.

The odd thing is, the warmongers I know, admire Putin. They still want to go to war with him, but they admire him. Tells you a lot about the neurons misfiring in their brains.

Maybe so, but you'll never catch me alive taking selfies with neocons especially ones as rabid as Kirchick.

I don't think it was coincidence that she used the RP interview as the excuse for her rant. 1. she trolled RP supporters into temporarily supporting the agenda -- until RP turned up and denied her claims. 2. was not kirchick the guy he went to that library in the Midwest to photocopy all the old newsletters back in 07?

Yeah, the fact that she did this after a RP interview was not just a coincidence, IMHO.

Not surprising to me at all after all its the Neoconservative and Republicans along with the Democrats that desperately want to wipe Russia off the face the map.
They will not stop at nothing to gain what they want.

Kirchick just did another hit piece on Ron and Rand. No doubt this was coordinated.

I don't know if anyone has seen this, but the Neocon-Zionists kept attacking the entities that are exposing them on social media... making them look even more like fools.

For her public act of protest against Russia Today’s coverage of the Russian invasion of Ukrainian territory, and for supposedly advancing the agenda of Vladimir Putin in Washington DC, previously unknown news anchor Liz Wahl has suddenly become one of the most famous unemployed people in America. After her on-air resignation from the cable news channel, Wahl appeared on the three major American cable news outlets—CNN, Fox News, MSNBC—to denounce the heavy-handed editorial line she claims her bosses imposed on her and other staffers.

Yeah, it's a hoot alright. But we knew this was what was happening anyhow.

And here we go. The connection to Bill Kristol. All of the pieces have come together. A plot hatched at neocon central.

According to the report by TruthDig, much of evidence that Wahl’s resignation was not a spontaneous moment in which she could no longer deal with RT’s “propaganda” can be traced back to Tweets which were sent out about a half hour before Wahl’s final newscast. Though the tweets themselves didn’t come from Wahl, but rather from a neo-conservative think-tank Foreign Policy Initiative, which was started by Bill Kristol.

Another good one...more neoconservative connections.

Not only that, but that Kirchick, along with Buzzfeed’s Rosie Gray (who coincidentally also published an RT hit-piece recently) and Eli Lake, are knitted into a cosy set of self-supporting neo-con relationships with lobbyists and foreign policy hawks.

Liz Wahl is going to be on Austin Petersen's podcast tomorrow night. We discussed this whole issue last night on my Spreecast here: http://www.spreecast.com/events/libertea-with-rachel--2

This is towards the end, but the whole thing was a blast. Austin and I really got into it on foreign policy and Putin. Hope you'll join me next Sunday night.

Forgot to mention that her familiy was originally from Hungary, and had at least one relative that did not make it out until 1956.

Kirchick's profile:

James ("Jamie") Kirchick is a fellow at the neoconservative Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) and a contributing editor at the New Republic. A former writer-at-large for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Kirchick has also contributed to various rightist outlets like the Weekly Standard and Commentary magazine's Contentions blog, as well as numerous mainstream publications, including the Los Angeles Times and Politico.[1]

Like others of his ideological kin—such as Lee Smith, also at FDD—Kirchick has wielded accusations of anti-semitism in an effort to sideline those who are critical of hardline Israeli polices and one-sided U.S. support for them. In a February 2012 op-ed for Israel's liberal Haaretz, Kirchick defended "pro-Israel" U.S. writers like Josh Block—a fellow at the Progressive Policy Institute and former AIPAC spokesperson—who had been criticized for arguing that progressive, Democratic Party-affiliated organizations like the Center for American Progress (CAP) allowed their writers "to say borderline anti-semitic stuff." Kirchick misleadingly claimed in the article that Block was "ultimately vindicated" when CAP criticized use of terms like "Israel-firster" in its publications.[2] However, it was Block who was forced to back off his anti-semitism claims, telling a reporter that anyone "suggesting" the he thinks CAP is anti-semitic is simply trying "to distract from what I am actually saying."[3] Kirchick apparently missed this retraction from Block.[4]
