That brings me to Ron Paul. Ron Paul is willing to be president for even less than the current crop of politicians. He doesn't want to use the power of the presidency to have international adventures or distribute money to his buddies or work on his pet causes or anything like that. I don't think that he wants the power at all. In other words, unlike every other candidate, he doesn't want to be president in order to be president. He wants to be president in order to try to make the state work better,and the reward he gets is just the satisfaction of having done it and the appreciation (and lucrative book deals) that go along with that. Hopefully, Ron Paul and future Ron Pauls will be able to outcompete the politicians who are in it for power and status, and replace them with politicians who are genuinely interested in making the state and society work as well as possible because that would be a real innovation.
