SAGINAW, MI — Saginaw police officers who shot and killed homeless Saginaw resident Milton Hall during a confrontation in a shopping plaza parking lot won't face federal charges.

The Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan and the FBI announced their joint decision on Tuesday, Feb. 25.

“After a thorough investigation, federal authorities have determined that this tragic event does not present sufficient evidence of willful misconduct to lead to a federal criminal prosecution of the police officers involved,” a news release stated.
Hall died from police gunfire during a Sunday afternoon standoff July 1, 2012. Police were responding to reports that a man had stolen a cup of coffee from a convenience store and encountered Hall, who was armed with a knife and had a known history of mental illness.

Six officers shot at Hall 47 times; 11 bullets struck him. Several civilians witnessed the incident and recorded portions of it on their cellular phones.

After an investigation, Saginaw County's prosecutor did not seek state charges against the officers.

The (private) gangs in Saginaw use less ammunition for a drive-by. But I guess they have to pay for their rounds, so they have some incentive to be economical.

I hope these officers are happy knowing that it took 47 rounds to "defend" themselves from one guy with a knife, who probably would have stood down if any of the officers actually cared to deescalate the situation.

These aggressive police stories would get more mileage if those that posted them and those who are most interested in them had Twitter accounts and made tweets to go along w/ the post. Then, all of us could retweet all of the stories that come in and get these things trending in the Twittersphere where tons of libs and cons hangout. At least make the choir practice fun.

It's good to see that the percentage of homeless people within the United States is beginning to decline.

What? The government found the government not at fault? There's a shocker.

So what prompted the first shot? Was it resentment of lost donut eating time?

Police Murder a Man in Broad Daylight and Are Not Charged (http://www.lewrockwell.com/lrc-blog/police-murder-a-man-in-broad-daylight-and-are-not-charged/)

Michael S. Rozeff (http://www.lewrockwell.com/author/michael-s-rozeff/?post_type=lrc-blog)

This video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YC3OAMi9kjY) shows a line of police, looking like a firing squad, that opens fire on a man at some distance from them, not attacking them or anyone else. Their shots kill him. The murder occurs 1 minute into the video.

No criminal charges have been brought against these despicable killers. The Department of (In)Justice and the FBI issued a statement (http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/02/26/no-charges-for-michigan-cops-who-fatally-shot-homeless-man-11-times-over-stolen-coffee/): “After a thorough investigation, federal authorities have determined that this tragic event does not present sufficient evidence of willful misconduct to lead to a federal criminal prosecution of the police officers involved.”

This murder and the aftermath evidence the breakdown of justice in America. How can I second-guess these feds? Look for yourself. It’s easy. The police decided to shoot. That was willful. Misconduct hardly gets worse than murder, unless one counts rape-murder or torture-murder. Numerous alternatives were and are available to deal with a man who has stolen a cup of coffee, short of murder.

So much for all these people who are always saying "bring in the Feds to investigate!". It made me laugh when I heard people saying the Feds should be brought in to investigate the Kelly Thomas case. The "Feds" will just back up the local and state boys nearly all the time.

Isn't there an option to "tweet" these threads right at the top?

They don't calculate that like they used to. He probably wouldn't be counted in the numbers./s
