Ted Cruz on Nugent’s Obama ‘Subhuman Mongrel’ Comments: ‘I Don’t Agree with Them’

by Tommy Christopher (http://www.mediaite.com/author/tommy-christopher/) | 4:05 pm, February 20th, 2014

http://static01.mediaite.com/med/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/cruz3.jpgRocker and Senior Fellow at the DefeCato Institute (http://www.mediaite.com/online/fecal-draft-dodger-ted-nugent-to-speak-about-heros-maybe-die-or-get-arrested-at-nra-show/) Ted Nugent is a hot topic on CNN this week (http://www.mediaite.com/tv/ted-nugent-and-greg-abbott-big-tv-news-this-week-except-on-fox-news/) by virtue of his dual statuses as user of Nazi rhetoric and campaigner for gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott (R-TX). CNN’s Dana Bash confronted Abbott’s home Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) about the decision to campaign with a man who, scant weeks ago, called President Obama (http://www.mediaite.com/online/ted-nugent-president-obama-a-chimpanzee-and-subhuman-mongrel-hillary-has-spare-scrotums/) a “subhuman mongrel,” and Cruz took aim at Nugent’s comments with no barrels.
In January, Nugent called the President (http://www.mediaite.com/online/ted-nugent-president-obama-a-chimpanzee-and-subhuman-mongrel-hillary-has-spare-scrotums/) a “subhuman mongrel” (and a “chimpanzee”), a remark in keeping with Nugent’s long history (http://www.mediaite.com/tv/common-hater-sean-hannity-defended-ted-nugents-violent-anti-obama-rhetoric/) of such gentility, but the comments became news this week when Greg Abbott decided to have Nugent join him onstage at campaign events. Wolf Blitzer zeroed in on the Nazi origins of Nugent’s phrase, and wondered if Abbott’s decision to embrace Nugent would, or should, damage him politically. Nugent, for his part, responded by calling Wolf Blitzer a Nazi (http://www.mediaite.com/tv/ted-nugent-likens-cnn-to-nazi-propaganda/), and bailing on an interview with Erin Burnett.
On CNN’s New Day, political correspondent Dana Bash (http://www.mediaite.com/power-grid/person/?q=Dana+Bash) confronted Ted Cruz with a video recording of Nugent’s January remarks. “That’s Ted Nugent,” Bash observed. “He’s campaigning here with the leading Republican candidate to be your next governor. Is that appropriate, for them to campaign together?”
Cruz, no lover of Nazis (http://www.mediaite.com/online/not-nazis-what-sen-ted-cruz-thinks-was-as-intimidating-a-foe-as-obamacare-may-surprise-you/), replied “Look, I had not seen that video until you just played it.
“What do you think of it?” Bash probed.
“I think it is a little curious that — to be questioning political folks about rock stars,” Cruz said, and added, with a self-effacing laugh, “I got to tell you, listen. I’m not cool enough to hang out with any rock stars. Jay-Z doesn’t come over to my house. I don’t hang out with Ted Nugent.”

“Jay-Z doesn’t call the president a subhuman mongrel,” Bash replied, adding, “Is this an appropriate thing to say?”
Cruz then spontaneously thought up the same exact thing that Newt Gingrich said yesterday (http://www.mediaite.com/tv/gingrich-blasts-blitzer-for-remarkably-selective-outrage-over-nugents-obama-remarks/), replying “I would be willing to bet that the president’s Hollywood friends have said some pretty extreme things.”
“The reason I played that for you is this week in Texas, he was invited to campaign with the man who may be your next governor in your party,” Bash pressed.
“Those sentiments there, of course I don’t agree with them,” Cruz replied, and added “You’ve never heard me say such a thing, nor would I.”
But Cruz also added that there’s a reason people listen to Nugent: “He has been fighting passionately for Second Amendment rights.”
Asked if he would campaign with Nugent, Cruz said, “I haven’t yet, and I’m going to avoid engaging in hypotheticals.”

Teddy is a real politician who can say things without being too clear about his intent.

Well, of course, “Jay-Z doesn’t call the president a subhuman mongrel”

Am looking forward to Mr Z's views on the upcoming "Tanning of America" week long special on VH-1. That ought to be a hoot. The previews insinuate a specific position on The President and his role in that phenomenon which may be comparable to this theater. Will see, I suppose.

I was watching "Rock Star" tonight and happeed to catch a peek of the preview.

And so I'm very disappointed in him and in his comments."

Last September, Christie helped King win re-election by speaking at a fundraiser for him in Sioux City. But he said King had not asked him to appear on his behalf recently.

"If he asks, I'll make that judgment at that time," Christie said.

Gov. Chris Christie said today he was "very disappointed" in U.S. Rep. Steve King for saying illegal immigrants have "calves the size of cantaloupes because they're hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert," but that he would not rule out raising campaign funds for the Iowa Republican in the future.

Strange comparison to fruits.

Along with Miley Cyrus etc, Korn could have included JayZ and Ted Nugent.

I don't know. I suppose I was just reminded of when The President had mentioned of African-Americans
"We are sort of a mongrel people."

"I mean we're all kinds of mixed up," Obama said. "That's actually true of white people as well, but we just know more about it."

The president's remarks were directed at the roots of all Americans.

That last part really does align with the direction that the preview of the documentary seemed to portray.

http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/111611-obama-calls-african-americans-a-mongrel-people-#ixzz2ts6gKyTH

And then with all of the political "outrage" and maneuvering as a result of the Nugent thing from the just hurry up and get elected crowd that I've read recently just made me think of the context within the preview of it.

Anyhow. I think I'll watch it and see what it's about because from the vibe that I go it seemed as if it were more tuned with changing the course of history than the just hurry up and get elected meme. Is just interesting to me is all. Historically, our representatives as well as we, ourselves, tend to do and approach things selectively and depending upon what we wish to get from it. If we see nothing to be had then we leave it alone. Is another reason I get to chuckling when we get the weasel words from purely political driven people yapping about morality and whatnot all of a sudden. It's just so fake and obvious.

And did not knopw Obama had used the m-word.

I don't think have ever heard a song from Jay-Z or at least the one I recognize. And probably never will knowing that he seems to still stand with neocons pllanted SWC droneking.

That is rocking video, +rep.

It also shows Miley Cyrus is a better performer/teleprompter actor than SWC.

I'm going to be honest, I like a lot of Jay-Z's music, especially his album The Blueprint.

But his last album sucked and I don't like his politics, so no argument from me on not paying his music any mind.

Yep, everyone has their own taste in music, no musical sacrifice for me in this case.

Now if I found out Kanye West or Drake were currently supporting droneking, then my album selections would need some trimming.

Drake is an Obama fan, though he did write that letter I linked to President Obama four months ago, and Kanye has had a rocky history with the President what with all the name calling, but does still defend his failures.

Don't want to kill your likes musically, but I guess you can decide what to make of that and whether or not your album collection needs a little off the top.

It's all good. Droneking had called Kanye West "a jack ass", so he is not going to be his big supporter.
Drake writing him a letter about Drones shows a conscience.

Both are good enough in my book.

Heck in my ignorant days I had supported Obama for short period of time very early on but woke up soon once I learnt the facts about his puppet masters/money baggers.

Ted Cruz should have responded with with "Jon Stewart called President Bush a douche bag. Was that appropriate? Of course it wasn't, and neither is this."

Weak politicians, unwilling to call out the liberals on their own bull while stammering over the noise coming from within their own party do not deserve to be considered in the running for presidency.

Agree.

Ted Nugent was right about one thing, mainstream Republicans check out their "s-word" at the door when criticizing Democrats and media double standard.
But problem could be there are only a few Republicans who would have moral authority to do so, vast majority of them would look like hypocrites as for most part both parties engage in similar tactics when they take turn on power. Media hypocrisy is high on Dems side.

Lest it turn into a musical thread, I tend to pick music based best on best creations of a singer, not worst. KW is not a bad artist:

Never heard of that song, just had heard couple of his songs including above and one he did with cold play.
I searched Graduation on youtoob and one that I found had few thousand views, and not really my cup of tea. Not that youtoob views alone mean much, but Heartless shows 84 Million views.

Ted Cruz isn't "cool." He is one of the people who would be eaten by the T-Rex that was rampaging through San Diego in The Lost World: Jurassic Park.

I like his early stuff best, but he made some excellent music in the MBDTF era. Dude's a bit of a musical genius.

Graduation is an album that contained the contained the songs Good Life, Stronger, and Homecoming with Chris Martin from Coldplay.

On Topic: Cruz still hasn't renounced his Canadian citizenship like he said he would.
