These are not "BATTLES". These are PROTESTS. BATTLES not equal to PROTESTS. Yes it is ugly. Yes people are getting hurt. On smaller scale It happens in almost every country in Europe and South America and Asia. Ever seen football riots? Hooligans? Also: SLAVERY not equal to DRAFT. People who didnt experience battles or slavery often exaggerate things. That retard with a gun was aiming rooftops? What does he think what is accuracy of a gun? Where union strikes and strikebreakers in US "battles"? 99.9% of the people throws rocks to hurt not to kill (there are exceptions). On those videos you can see protesters roughing up captured policeofficer and taking his helmet, shield but not trying to kill him. It is also obvious that police is not engaging or aggressively fighting (if you can trust those videos and those that I saw on news in Croatia).

It could get really violent and turn into war/battle but this is not it.

Very Peaceful Protesters indeed.

Kiev Protesters Set Square Ablaze to Thwart Police (http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/19/world/europe/ukraine.html?hp&_r=1)

Busing in supporters shows that you dont that large of an support.

Activists in the west of the country, a bastion of support for the antigovernment cause, had earlier vowed to send buses with reinforcements to Kiev.

If this was an real protest rally millions would be joining the cause to join the EU

American National Guards would be mowing these people en masse with a machine gun for that.

In the US, the "sticks and stones" phase of conflict would not last very long.

Yup, these guys were able to order dozens of police officers in the streets full of protestors without guns. In the good ole USA, a police officer wouldn't step inside a nursing home without his pistol. God forbid someone inside has a safety pin to prick his delicate body

Instead of making a new thread I will just post this here.

Law Enforcement, SWATs, and their DHS tanks. They'd be mowed down like 'Ducks at an arcade game'.... of course the other half of the operations is to label them all terrorists and sell it to Boobus and the fools staring at their livingroom's, 'rectangle zombie boxes' to approve the killings.

Why are they rioting? Because the president didn't want to join the EU?

Those idiots in the 3rd video are just discharging in the air. That's pretty reckless - what are they trying to accomplish? Do they even know their target? There's protesters on the other side of that wall. With friendlies like that, who needs enemies?

Not exactly. That's sort of what set this off. But in general the people view their president as a tyrant and want him gone. I think this is what has fanned the protests in other parts of the country beside Kiev.

I read a news report (don't know how true it is) that police snipers were killing protesters and that protesters were also shooting police from buildings. So my guess is that's probably why he was aiming up. I thought the cameraman was an idiot for standing so close without cover.

VoluntaryAmerican This is was because of the EU and please dont give me the BS that the people view their president as a tyrant and wanted him gone. He was democratically elected as much Obama, Bush were.

That is the line that you don't cross again in this country.

What were the big "balls" the protestors were throwing? They aren't rocks....unless everyone in Ukraine can throw a 40 pound shotput like a baseball. Looked like protestors were throwing softballs and cops deflected with sheet aluminum shields. Bricks?

My girlfriend is from Ukraine, her entire family lives in Ukraine and that's the information she relayed to me not just about her family but about her friends who are protesting in the city where she studied in college. Yanukovych imprisoned his political opposition, he's not exactly a bastion of freedom..

This dumbass negs me for the comment. Please, tell me your source.

When someone throws a Molotov cocktail, it should be assumed that the weapon will kill if it hits its intended target.

I know one woman from Ukraine here. Her belief is that Yanukovych is corrupt and must go. Beyond that, she is torn.

I hope she doesn't think the "new boss" will be any better than the "old boss". Probably worse, seeing how new boss will be IMF lackey.

One lesson from this has been learned:

"As of today Ukrainian Gun Owners Association will start to work on the preparation of amendments to the Constitution, which will provide an unconditional right for Ukrainian citizens to bear arms.
People should have the right to bear arms, which will be put in written into the Constitution.

Authorities should not and will not be stronger than its people!

Armed people are treated with respect!"
