Wisconsin taxpayers could be forced to spend tens of thousands of dollars to help fund a White Privilege Conference next month in downtown Madison.

Madison will pay $1,500 to co-sponsor the four-day event, which tries to attract teachers, university faculty, activists and high school and college students to “dismantle this system of white supremacy, white privilege and oppression.”

The taxpayer-supported Madison Area Technical College and University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire also are listed as co-sponsors.

UW-Eau Claire is paying a sponsorship fee of $2,000, according to university spokesman Michael Rindo.

MATC could not provide the amount of its contribution in time for this story, but Rindo says the different sponsorship levels are $1,500 to $3,000.

It must be so easy to blame all your problems on something like this. The real oppression of minorities is from government, and it's not just white's perpetrating it. They need to get their heads out of their ostrich holes. Even worse that people who likely don't support this have to pay for it.

I do agree that there are still disparates in many different areas between whites and blacks, but honestly most of those are currently because of cultural differences and differences in our society as a whole rather than because of race. Plus why can't we also talk about white guilt and how many whites don't stand up when they are held at the mercy of political correctness?

What about individuals being responsible for their own success? When did it become my fault if someone didn't get up off their ass and take responsibility for themselves, regardless of the color of their skin?

Wisconsin is going about it all wrong.

One way to fix this problem is to confiscate federal lands in the West and allow colorblind homesteading. The Federal Government unconstitutionally holds around 650 million acres of land in the West. Much of it is not habitable yet much of it is. It would kill two birds with one stone. It would shrink the size of the federal government and it would allow anyone who does not already own land a chance to own their own home.
