Yet the Seinfeld star said something so politically incorrect Monday that it could have reverberations across the comedy landscape. He answered charges that both his signature sitcom and his new online series, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, don't feature enough comics of color.

"People think it’s the census or something,” Seinfeld said of the assertion that all pop culture should accurately reflect society. “This has gotta represent the actual pie chart of America? Who cares? Funny is the world that I live in. You’re funny, I’m interested. You’re not funny, I’m not interested. I have no interest in gender or race or anything like that."

Seinfeld went on to say that approaching comedy through the lens of race or gender or sexuality are “anti-comedy.”

“It’s more about PC nonsense than ‘Are you making us laugh or not?’” he said.

Another Scienfeld star Kramer got way to politically incorrect though in his comedy show once... Scienfeld had to go to Letterman to help rehabilitate him.

Good.

That's what the left mainly is, a bunch of racists who say people have to be racist.

Fuck racism.

He pissed off some liberals with this.

He didn't piss them off. Those people are always pissed off. It's their default mode.

He just provided a locus for them to temporarily concetrate their pissed-offedness on.

Someone or something else will be coming along shortly and they'll start bitching about that.

ETA: Come to think of it, that pretty well describes us as well - but at least we don't dress up hateful & overbearing irrationality in the guise of "good intentions" in order to force other people into conformity of opinion.

Good for him. I'm so sick of forced racial favoritism; showing favor to certain races because of PC pressure or laws is akin to racism and anyone that doesn't see that isn't worth listening to.

I'm surprised that liberals haven't sued the NBA under affirmative action due to the high ratio of black vs white players, they are about diversity right? /Sarcasm.

Seriously though, good for Seinfeld.

Realistic statue of man in his underwear sparks controversy at all women's college

A realistic-looking statue of a man sleepwalking in his underwear near the center of Wellesley College has created a stir among the women on campus, especially as more than 100 students at the all-women’s college signed a petition asking administrators to remove it.

The statue, called Sleepwalker, is part of an art exhibit featuring sculptor Tony Matelli at the college's Davis Museum. The exhibit, New Gravity, features sculptures that are often reversed, upended or atomized.

However, the statue of the sleepwalker -- which is hard to miss in a high-traffic area by both pedestrians and drivers near the campus center -- has caused outrage among some students in just one day after its Feb. 3 installation. Zoe Magid, a Wellesley College junior majoring in political science, started a petition on Change.org with other students asking college president H. Kim Bottomly to have the statue removed.

"[T]his highly lifelike sculpture has, within just a few hours of its outdoor installation, become a source of apprehension, fear, and triggering thoughts regarding sexual assault for many members of our campus community," says the petition, which was penned by student Lauren Walsh. "While it may appear humorous, or thought-provoking to some, it has already become a source of undue stress for many Wellesley College students, the majority of whom live, study, and work in this space."

Well there's a difference between being politically incorrect and being racist. A difference some here would obviously be happy to blur.

In some mideast countries, Scienfeld and Steven Spielberg's productions are boycotted because they they think these gentlemen have crossed such lines by funding wars that they see "racially motivated" in part. I think it was in wikileaks.

Um, the Middle East has a entirely different way of thinking. They don't call it the "Arab World" for nothing.

YES JERRY YES! FINALLY! Diversity doesn’t matter in comedy or anywhere else in the world. The entertainment world shouldn’t reflect the real world.

What a fucking weird thing to say that you don’t care about diversity. Why wouldn’t you want to enrich your comedy by having a different point of view to make your comedy better? I think funny to Jerry is white… I think I would be less offended if he straight up just said I have white people on my web series because I like white people my comedy is for white people and I AM WHITE PEOPLE!

Then put on his hood and yelled WHITE POWER and burned a cross on stage. JK if he did the last part I might be offended… but not really. Theres no shame in liking what you like. Like that Duck Dynasty dude saying he doesn’t like gays… well cool, now I never have to watch a show that I’ve never had an interest in watching. Know what I mean?

This is the same… I’ve never seen a full episode of Seinfeld and I doubt I will… his funny isn’t my cup of vodka… and I cant seem to forgive his buddy for screaming the N word to an audience of people who paid to watch him “just be funny”

I do think the funniest person should get recognition/work/whatever but as a minority its hard. Very hard… partly because no one is really looking for our story… Sure there were a bunch of black people movies this year… but where were the hispanic movies? The Asian movies? The hungarian american movies? UGH I COULD GO ON ALL DAY ABOUT ENTERTAINMENT AND RACE.

However I will end on this… the race problem in america will be solved when there are more JLo movies.
