Popular former Gov. Jeb Bush is playing a starring role in a high-stakes Florida congressional election.

He appears in a new TV ad to help Republican David Jolly in the race to fill the seat of the late Rep. Bill Young. The spot is funded by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and begins airing Tuesday in Florida's 13th Congressional District, which includes the St. Petersburg area.

Bush, also a Republican, says in the ad that Jolly knows how to "get things done" in a dysfunctional Washington. Jolly is locked in a tight race with Democrat Alex Sink in the swing-voting district.

The chamber ad is the latest addition to a multimillion-dollar ad war being financed by both political parties and outside groups in advance of the March 11 special election.

He's a fucking lobbyist and someone needs to reform these Primary laws... the winner didn't even collect a majority vote, another race of multiple candidates spreads dilutes the votes, and wins with only 45%. Means a majority of the district's GOP voters, don't want this establishment Washington DC ringer. Thanks Jeb... more establishment Bush Bullshit keep the rigged system running.

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL - A longtime aide to U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young is the Republican nominee for a special election to fill the House seat of the late lawmaker.

David Jolly won the GOP nomination in a three-way primary Tuesday, besting state Rep. Kathleen Peters and retired Marine Brig. Gen. Mark Bircher. With all precincts counted, the lobbyist and former congressional aide captured 44 percent of the vote in a district that encompasses nearly all of Pinellas County on Florida's Gulf Coast. Peters had 32 percent.
