Great!

So what does this actually mean for Greg's campaign?

National attention and the money that usually goes along with it.

Also, a Freedomworks endorsement gives Brannon extra credibility, and makes it harder to portray him as a "fringe" candidate.

Who should we harass next? Senate Conservatives Fund, Club4Growth, both? :)

FreedomWorks fund raising base is absolutely enormous! If they send out an email and post something about Brannon on their facebook page I think we'd see a big swing in donations rolling in.

I'm so excited for Brannon. This endorsement will open the floodgates and he can ride to victory!

It's critical that Greg get ads on the air this month to compete with Tillis. The FreedomWorks endorsement will go a long way towards that, but to fight it out on the air with Tillis until May will be hideously expensive. We really do need these other groups to pitch in to counteract Rove and Boehner's money.

Gun Owners of America too! :)

I wrote to them a while back and they said they'd be sending out their survey to all the candidates soon. That was in November or so. I should contact them again. He's already got NAGR's endorsement. We should also try and get the NRA's endorsement, that is the biggest of the three big gun groups.

NRA would never endorse someone like Brannon. I guarantee you they support Tillis, possibly even Hagan.

Official press release:

FreedomWorks PAC Backs Brannon for U.S. Senate (http://gregbrannon.com/news/2014/2/4/freedomworks-pac-backs-brannon-for-us-senate)

Raleigh, NC – Today, FreedomWorks PAC, one of the most powerful grassroots conservative organizations in the country, threw it's support behind Dr. Greg Brannon for U.S. Senate.

FreedomWorks PAC President Matt Kibbe commented, "Greg Brannon is a solutions-oriented leader with a stellar understanding of the constitutional role of government. He knows that North Carolinians - not some faceless bureaucrats in Washington - know what's best for themselves and their families. Greg Brannon will be critical part of the Republican Senate takeover in 2014, and a welcome member of the Freedom Caucus within the new majority."

"It's an honor to receive the support of such an incredible organization. FreedomWorks has solid record of working to elect conservatives and they've been on the front lines in the fight for smaller government. I'm grateful for their endorsement and I look forward to fighting alongside these great champions of freedom," said Brannon.

Brannon added, "our campaign is committed to empowering grassroots conservative across the state to join us in the effort to return the principles of constitutionally limited government to the U.S. Senate. Everyday I'm inspired by the enthusiasm and passion for our country."
FreedomWorks PAC joins other conservative leaders like Senator Rand Paul, RedState editor Erick Erickson, conservative author Ann Coulter, Congressman Thomas Massie, Congressman Ron Paul, National Association for Gun Rights PAC, Moore TEA Citizens, Conservatives for Guilford County (C4GC), Asheville Tea PAC, and the Beaufort Tea Party in endorsing Brannon's campaign for U.S. Senate.

FreedomWorks PAC is a grassroots service center for millions of activists nationwide who are dedicated to fight for lower taxes, less government, and more freedom.
-----
Dr. Greg Brannon is a Cary pro-life Obstetrician and conservative leader in North Carolina. A popular speaker for Tea Party groups the past few years, Dr. Brannon is the anti-establishment candidate running in opposition to the Big Government, big spending status quo in both political parties.

You know, I immediately wondered about this. I know the NRA's response to Sandy Hook was "Put a cop in every school." I have a hard time imagining someone like Greg Brannon going for an authoritarian measure like that. I wonder if this sort of thing matters to the NRA, and how much.

Didn't Hagan vote for universal background checks?

Supporters and Tea Party leaders. Not sure who these folks specifically are, but supporters and Tea Party organizers were the invitees to this event.

Its been a long time since I've looked into the NRA, but when I did, they struck me as being complete sellouts on the issues, probably including this one. Obviously that doesn't mean we shouldn't seek their endorsement, but it does mean I doubt they'd give it. I'm not sure Brannon has enough fascism in his bones (none) to please them;)
