View Full Version : My Campaign needs some graphics

If you haven’t heard, I’m considering running for office: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?442644-How-RPF-is-going-to-get-me-elected

If you haven’t donated yet, please consider doing so here: http://www.shemkellogg.com/donate/

As you can see, I need a graphic for my Rally page. I don't know anything about graphic design but suspect developing an image for this should be relatively easy for anyone who does.

I need a versatile logo that can be used for
-Rally site listed above
-Website, shemkellogg.com
-Future Facebook page
-Future campaign literature

I don't really have anything in mind for the graphic. I don't think it needs a photo, but my future campaign literature surely will. The image will eventually be replaced with my official literature graphics (which I'm sure will include a photo). I am envisioning something simple; a little flashier than a yard sign. Someone thought with my last name being what it is that it might be cool to do a subliminal / not-too-obvious play on the Corn Flake colors and fonts. I don’t know about that but please don’t get me sued by the cereal company. Logo doesn’t necessarily need to include slogan (e.g. Restore America Now) as I don’t have one yet. But if something comes to mind then throw it on. My future campaign literature will have usual tag lines, "cut spending, cut taxes, etc." I don't think my district needs to be on this banner, since the people I will be hitting up for donations (at this stage anyways) would not be my future constituents. I’m thinking text on the banner should at a minimum include:

[Vote / Elect] Shem Kellogg
Republican
[for] New Hampshire State Representative

Please confirm file size and format restrictions, etc. for Rally, website, and facebook. I found this: http://blog.rally.org/rally-101-rally-page-photos/

The variation of the image to serve as the cover page of my future Facebook page may want to replacing New Hampshire with the names of the two towns in my district, Atkin son and Plai stow (no spaces).

I'm hoping there are a few of you guys out there who are willing to throw together some mock-ups and the rest of us can provide comments and then vote on which we think is best.

Open to suggestions on all of this.

Tentative deadline for is 02/24/14, i.e., 100 days before the filing period? I will have to gauge interest.

Thanks

Again, if you haven’t donated yet, please consider doing so here: http://www.shemkellogg.com/donate/

take your time with it (unless you want to gauge interest from the community here, which i welcome and support). I really want something that I carry all the way to election. Again, I'm thinking RPF poll on 02/24/14.

Am working on something now, feel free to ask for tweaks, or reject it. Should I post it here, or should I private message you a link?

Here is something I came up with yesterday. I made your name red to suggest strength and the republican party. The color, as well as the larger "K" ties in with the "Kellogg's Cornflakes" reference, without getting too close to their actual design. The star in the middle of the "O" draws further attention to the last name, the one voters should remember when they walk in to vote. The rest of the text is rendered in a lighter blue color that completes a "patriotic" color scheme. Feel free to tell me honestly what you think. I can change the color, make small tweaks or scrap it altogether. I won't get THAT offended. :D (I'm not FBappDev afterall...)

Bump for opinion!

I was thinking bigger S for shem, at first, but pretty memorable with the font the way it is. Gives it some retina burn.

Normally, I think you'd want to showcase the last name. Make that bigger and maybe the Shem smaller above it to the left. In this case, maybe convention wisdom does not apply as your 1st name is memorable and may be worth showcasing. Some thing to consider.
I do like the colors. Just want to make sure at driving speed you can read the name.

Yeah, I think my both first and last name need to be showcased

I like it. The "K" is a little awkward though, imo. A little bit "flamboyant" ([?] for lack of a better word). I don't know.

I'm no kind of authority by any stretch, but imo it looks a bit too angular or sharp, maybe?

Hmmm; I would say you need a photo wherever you can place a photo. A face shot means a personal connection with the audience. That saying about a picture and a thousand words is really true.

The photo need not be anything flashy. Just a head shot and a good, comfortable smile.

Good luck too!!

You're using this on posters? You might want a version that's one color on white. Or white on a color.

Here's Eric Brakey's

Thanks Indiana what does everyone everyone think of it?

So after hearing what others thought, what changes would you like made? Also, the color isn't too big of an issue right now, as that can be changed to what ever you want.

No formal comments as i am putting my trust in the community to make the final call. if that is your official entry just be prepared to flip it into the following, if you win:

-Rally site listed above
-Website listed above
-Future Facebook page cover pic
-Future campaign literature

thanks

Thanks for stepping up and helping! Its great to see the movement in action like this.

I'm having a bit of a hang up on the over-all font actually. The 'G's for example seem sharp or ... I don't know ... ninja like?
If you kept the same idea with a less unique font and perhaps non-gradient colors I'd really like to see it compared to Gage's.

Thanks again.

As is I like Gage's better.

It looks very professional/typical of large and serious campaigns and I think that is important. I really like the color scheme but I'm curious if having the name in red could be better? I'm just throwing ideas out there.
Like INpolitico said he was trying to attach the name with Kellogg's corn flakes in people's memory so they wouldn't be able to forget it. Wondering if being red might help with that?

Just throwing my two cents out there. Not an expert.

Kind of curious, are there any big local issues in New Hampshire you're running on? Or, do are you thinking of using a campaign slogan of any sort?

Interesting issue about the meals tax rate. Trying to think of a way to maybe work it in a campaign sign.

Not sure, as the restaurant issue might be something the locals are aware of.

Are you creating a polling thread for that? I like Gage's because having seen a bunch of signs in NH, people usually refer to the New Hampshire House of Representatives as the NH House, New Hampshire House or State House around here. So something like NH House or State Representative would be good.

This looks like the best out of the three. The only thing I would consider changing is the color scheme. White on red is the most eye catching:
