A North Dakota farmer was sentenced to three years in prison after he was located by a border surveillance drone. Rodney Brossart was sentenced to three years in jail after police were able to apprehend him for failing to return three cows that had wandered onto his property. Three. Cows. On. His. Property. And it wasn't just the drone that was after him.

An armed standoff between Brossart, his three sons and a SWAT team then ensued on Brossart’s property, which only ended after father and sons were located by a border-surveillance Predator borrowed from Customs and Border Patrol (CBP).

Well I just saw this beauty on the FORBES link from above in the comments section:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/02/kenneth-chamberlain-son-lawsuit-killing-white-plains_n_1643413.html

"...Police went to Chamberlain's apartment after a monitoring company reported that his medical alert device had gone off. Chamberlain, who had a heart condition, repeatedly told officers through his locked door that he was fine, but they insisted on seeing him.

When they removed the apartment door, police said, Chamberlain came at them with a knife and hatchet. He was hit with a stun gun, beanbags and finally gunshots...."

Well that fucking sucks. I know I know...Never call the police, but what the fuck do you do if your medical device CALLS THE POLICE FOR YOU!!! HOLY SHIT! We have a new level of getting fucked!!!

How long before everyone with some ailment which requires a device that will monitor you, "FOR YOUR SAFETY" HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!

"Ah Mr. mundane, according to the blood pressure monitor device we have installed in you, there's a sudden large spike."

"Oh it's OK, I'm fine, was just stressing about something..."

"So you are having a major stress event? We should send someone to check on you."

"NOOOOO!!! Oh God no! I mean, I'm fine, no really, I'm fine! Oh shit! No! Honest I'm OK. I'm OK! Please! I'm fine, I mean it!"

"Mr. Mundane your heart rate is increasing rapidly and your blood pressure is spiking even more. We are going to be sending the police to check on you. Please calmly await their arrival."

"Ah yes, this is XYZ alphabet Govt health monitoring care...We have a patient at the following address. We noticed a sudden spike in blood pressure and after our call to notify them of a courtesy visit, we noticed a dramatic increase in heart rate and body temperature suddenly rose by several degrees. We noticed significant pacing and We feel patient is currently UNSTABLE, please proceed with EXTRA CAUTION!"

Sorry to get off track on this thread, but I just can't believe in this thread I've witnessed two extremely FUCKED UP events.

#1) Drones being used to arrest people over a dispute of a FUCKING COW. A fucking cow that walked on it's own to another property. And then "terrorizing police" added to the charges, because the fucking swat team FEARED FOR THEIR SAFETY from farmer joe. Because everyone knows you need a SWAT team to get that fucking cow back.

#2) That a medical device can now ALERT a monitoring company who will immediately call the police (even for false alarms), and the cops will protect and serve the fuck out of that guy. Check out the video in the link. They fucking rip off the front door of his apt and jump in and tase the fuck out of him and then bean bag and then bullets. The recording stops after the tase. And of course it went to trial and the cops did nothing wrong. Holy shit, even when I had a home alarm monitoring service, and it went off, they called the house and/or mobile phone to see if it's a false alarm. WTF! Could obamacare eventually have us all implanted with devices showing all our vital signs and call authorities if our vital signs become suspicious. Worse then thought police!

Well,, that is like a liquor store robber. so it's OK. :(

If someone comes out of a liquor store with a weapon and fifty dollars in cash, I don’t care if a drone kills him or a policeman kills him…

If there’s a killer on the loose in a neighborhood, I’m not against drones being used to search them out, heat-seeking devices being used, I’m all for law enforcement.

What do you say to a drone that makes an arrest?

“Book him, Predator?”

This was no joke for a North Dakota family who were arrested with the assistance of a Predator drone. Rodney Brossart was sentenced to three years in prison, of which all but six months was suspended, for a June 2011 incident in which police attempted to arrest him over his failure to return three cows from a neighboring farm that had strayed on to his property.

Its ok because it makes us all safe from the bad guys that don't return cows to someone's property.

Now let me ask you how this makes sense:

"armed standoff ensued between his three sons and a SWAT team.....Brossart’s sons pled guilty to charges of menacing law enforcement officers, and were sentenced to a year of probation"

"a jury found Brossart guilty of terrorizing police, though he was acquitted of theft and criminal mischief."\

So every person in this situation is being punished because the police were getting involved in their lives. This had nothing to do with the cows. Also, how does an armed standoff result in 1 year of probation? Don't we read countless stories of cops killing someone and getting paid vacation because that someone reached for a cell phone and the cop "feared for his life?" And these guys were supposedly in an armed standoff with a SWAT team and get 1 year of probation???

Cattle rustlers are a real thing even today. I've been a victim of it. IED's have crossed my mind. Boards with long nails set in places like loading chutes and hay yards is a solution but it's also somewhat easy for them to use horses to herd the cattle away to a neighbor's pens to load up. Surveillance cameras and uploading streams is probably the best solution. It would be nice to own a drone that circles my property with a camera that films more than my property.

Let me tell you what I'll do if I catch you stealing livestock from me. Guns will be pulled and aimed at your head and torso. Any wrong moves and you will be shot. I look forward to the day when privately owned drones are affordable enough so I don't have to interrupt my sleep. Enter my property and risk the end of your life.

As it is today, yeah I'd probably call the cops if I caught you in the act instead of killing you on the spot. Today the state can save the robber. I make no promises of such when a free society eventually exists.

This man did not steal any cows,, and was not on someone elses property.

This man was on his own property and was assaulted by a SWAT team over cows that wandered onto his property.

NOT a Thief.

He never stole any Cows.

He was convicted of terrorizing Cops.

A jury Thursday night convicted a Rodney Brossart, a Lakota, N.D. , farmer, of terrorizing the two law enforcement officers who arrested him in 2011, but found him not guilty of the theft of the six cattle of his neighbor that wandering on his land, beginning the unusual case.

Both charges were felonies. The terrorizing charge has a maximum prison sentenceof five years in prison.

He also was found guilty of two misdemeanor charges: of preventing his own arrest June 23, 2011, which carries a top penalty of a year in jail, and of failing to obey the state’s law on handling stray livestock, a lesser charge.

OH Goody.

The SPLC puts a whole different spin on this. (Imagine my surprise)
http://www.splcenter.org/get-informed/intelligence-report/browse-all-issues/2011/winter/law-enforcement-takes-on-the-sovereig

What began as a seemingly minor matter had thus become the latest clash between law enforcement and antigovernment extremists known as “sovereign citizens.”

Nelson County Sheriff Kelly Janke knew the Brossarts were followers of another Lakota resident, Roger Elvick, one of the original gurus of the bizarre but remarkably resilient sovereign citizens movement. Adherents — estimated by the Southern Poverty Law Center to number about 300,000 nationwide — believe that individuals can simply remove themselves from the authority of local, state and federal laws, and follow their own rules instead.

Keep looking,, this case has all kinds of interesting details.

http://beforeitsnews.com/opinion-conservative/2013/03/yes-drones-can-see-you-and-your-weapon-remember-rodney-brossart-2591898.html

Homeland Security is ordering-up drones designed for war on U.S. citizens, even though we know that our wars are over, according to this administration? The specs call for the ability to see if a person has a weapon and specs that once a person is identified with a weapon, that person can be tracked – like…to your home. Nothing new other than the drones are now to be used to “see” and “track” you and I. So if you legally carry a weapon, daytime or nighttime, leave your cell phone at home. Remember Rodney Brossart and his family? Six cows belonging to a neighbor wandered onto his land. He fed them and wouldn’t give them back until the neighbor reimbursed him. In come the drones, and the police, sheriffs and SWAT team. An armed standoff ensued.
