Peter King slams RNC on NSA resolution

By KATIE GLUECK | 1/25/14 4:36 PM EST

Rep. Peter King on Saturday blasted a new resolution from the Republican National Committee concerning the National Security Agency, charging that the “hysterical” measure could be a “death warrant” for the GOP.

The RNC on Friday called the NSA surveillance program “unconstitutional” in a resolution, urging a “halt” of the efforts and “a full public accounting” of the data collection initiatives. In an interview with POLITICO, King, a hawkish New York Republican, said the move pushed the party in an “isolationist” direction.

“We’re going to make the Democrats and Barack Obama the party of national security,” he said. “It’s signing our own death warrant as a party.”

...

“Republicans are supposed to be the party of national defense,” King said. “It would be one thing if people wanted to pass legislation [posing] questions. But to talk about ‘spying’ and unconstitutionality … it’s basically repudiating the policies of the Republican Party over the last 12 years, policies that kept us safe.”

Sounds like another neocon that will be needing to make his way back to the Democrat party.

Pretty sure the RNC doesn't pass legislation of any kind. King may need to go back and retake his middle school civics class.

I would contribute to a money bomb for a billboard with his IRA ties and remarks plastered on it, especially if they put it in front of fox news headquarters, or at least in his district.

even as voices more wary of intervention, like Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), have grown more prominent within the GOP.

Really politico? If a Republican argument is rational persuasive and polite you moderate it; but leave the asshat Republicans intact? Really? Wow. Just wow.

I don't have the text (because it's gone) but my reply went something like:

No, the RNC resolution is not just the status quo putting their finger in the air and opposing Democrats, I, and the Republicans I work with have opposed the Patriot Act since 2001, and opposed the suspension of Habeas Corpus since 2006. What you are seeing is the principled faction of the Republican Party coming to prominence. I personally know the man who wrote this resolution - Bryan Daugherty - and he has NEVER supported this nonsense. WHat you are seeing is not the establishment playing partisan politics, what you are seeing is our faction of the Republican Party #winning

Now just look at the pro-Republican garbage they are allowing in the comments, and ^^^ THAT post gets deleted by the moderators? Seriously? I mean, that kind of moderation is just...evil.

The guy who wrote the resolution and worked his ass off non-stop for the last 6 to 8 months to get it heard and passed is a die-hard Ron Pauler. He was a delegate to the RNC in 2012, and I know him personally.

King has cleverly tried to make this opposition an anti-establishment move and some idiot Republicans are going along with it just because it's the RNC.

they are NOT in 'our' movement.. lower your expectations and you won't be disappointed, we don't need them in any event. they are like the joe rogan guy, smoke till their brains fall out and then drop out. you still have me, and quite a few others, and we still have you, and that is quite enough.

Not a bad idea at all.

Don't think department of billboards could object to it.

Wasting resources attacking Peter King seems like a bad idea to me. Not only would it be "attacking downwards", he's also one of the best recruitment tools there are for liberty-minded people. Every time he opens his mouth, people seem to run from his stench nowadays.
