While it is true we can't put a price tag on freedom... freedom is not supposed to be like this though:

It is really sad that I was not sure if they meant America soldiers headed to Afghanistan, or if they meant American soldiers in Aghanistan, or if they meant Afghani soldiers in Afghanistan.

NATO Leaders Say Afghan Troops Need More Training

MUNICH February 1, 2014 (AP)
By DAVID RISING Associated Press

Afghanistan's police force and army still need more training to handle the country's security on their own, making it critical for a new security agreement to be signed to allow international forces to remain after 2014, NATO's top two leaders said Saturday.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai has so far refused to sign the security agreement that could allow some 10,000 U.S. troops and 6,000 troops from allied nations to stay in Afghanistan after the end of this year, largely to help train Afghan forces.

He has said he wants to wait until after the country elects his successor in a planned April 5 presidential election - but if the agreement doesn't get signed, all international troops could leave by the end of 2014 in a so-called "zero option."

The U.S. spent 5 years and $200 million on a program to teach Afghan soldiers to read, but a new report reveals that effort was a failure.
The United States government has spent $200 million on a literacy program for the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) over the past five years but half the Afghan army still can’t read or write according to a new report.

There is no real training now, it looks like a farce for more gravytrain funds. How can you train someone to use guns when you are in constant fear of this:

Taxpayers funded training and freedom enduring academy produced local officers apparently still not trained enough to protect local population.
Rand is opposed to this policy.

First flight of Afghans who risked lives to help American troops arrive in US

Fri July 30, 2021

(CNN)The first group of translators and interpreters who helped US soldiers and diplomats in Afghanistan arrived in the US on Friday, even as thousands more wait in Afghanistan in increasing fear of Taliban reprisals.
The first group of approved Afghan applicants for a Special Immigrant Visa touched down and traveled to Fort Lee, Virginia, on Friday, according to the Biden administration. The flight carried about 200 people, including applicants and their families, part of a priority group of 700 Afghan SIV applicants who have completed the majority of the background process required to get a visa. Along with their families, they number about 2,500.
"Today is an important milestone as we continue to fulfill our promise to the thousands of Afghan nationals who served shoulder-to-shoulder with American troops and diplomats over the last 20 years in Afghanistan," President Joe Biden said in a statement.

'They are looking for us'
The Afghans on that flight are the lucky ones. They represent a sliver of the estimated 20,000 SIV applicants in line, some of whom told CNN they are deeply afraid as they watch the Taliban's bloody executions and reprisals against those who helped US troops.

Is Biden cutting off the trining too soon?

U.S. to begin housing Afghan interpreters at Virginia military base

Afghan nationals who aided the U.S. war effort and their families will be temporarily housed at a U.S. Army base about 140 miles south of Washington while they await finalapproval of their visas, the State Department confirmed Monday.
The first round of applicants will be taken to Fort Lee, Va., according to a congressional official who viewed a National Security Council notification sent to Capitol Hill earlier Monday.State Department spokesperson Ned Price said the base will serve as “the initial relocation site for the pool of applicants who are closest to completing special immigrant processing.”

On a pro-diversity note, Iraq/Syria/mideast/Afghan interventions also appear to continue to enrich American culture with new culinary flavors and cultural/ethnic/religious diversity as happened with spike in Asian Food outlets in America following US involvement in Korea, Vietnam wars.

Report: Number of mosques in US grows overall, but African American mosques in decline
June 2, 2021
By Joseph Hammond
“The Muslim American community is a very diverse and at any given mosque, when a critical mass is reached, there is often a desire to start another mosque. This is something we have seen in many groups from Afghani-Americans to Somali-Americans. It is also a phenomenon that we find in other religious groups in America as well,” Bagby said.

Pentagon Officials: More time needed to train Afghan soldiers

Guess who was among the leadership championing bottomless spending pit of "more time needed" to continue Afghan war & occupation in Jan 2014:

Michael Flynn
He resigned in light of reports that he had lied regarding conversations with Sergey Kislyak. Flynn's military career included a key role in shaping U.S. counterterrorism strategy and dismantling insurgent networks in the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars.. He became the 18th director of the Defense Intelligence Agency in July 2012 until his forced retirement from the military in August 2014

Michael Flynn, an associate of Prez Trump and First son-in-law Kushner, reportedly had ties to Israeli spyware firm (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?554940-QAnon-believers-don-t-know-how-to-handle-Flynn-s-ties-to-Israeli-spyware-firm-behind-Pegasus&)

Looking at developments of last couple of weeks and instant vanishing of 300,000 Afghan army, having second thoughts that may they were right and more time was needed still to train them. Or more generous taxpayers funding, $500,000 cost per Afghan soldier may have seemed high but still with inflation and all..

They put in their twenty years, retired, and appear to be getting their pensions to spend in Virginia.

Mission accomplished, Dubya?
