I saw the "Lone Survivor" movie with a friend. I did not enjoy it. Laurence Vance sums up my thoughts:

Conservative warmongers are upset with negative reviews by liberals of the movie Lone Survivor. For a sample, see National Review Online (http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/368556/lone-survivor-and-insufferable-anti-american-self-righteousness-david-french). I am upset as well. Why are liberals calling Navy Seals heroes who had no business fighting a senseless and unjust war? Jake Tapper, the host of CNN’s “The Lead,” recently interviewed (http://www.businessinsider.com/jake-tapper-afghanistan-2014-1#ixzz2qbL6GoEh) former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell about Lone Survivor. This comment on the interview has got to be the dumbest comment ever made about the war in Afghanistan in the history of the universe: “They didn’t die for nothing .. they died fighting the A-HOLES who killed 3000+ on 9-11 !!” Two observations: 1. All the a-holes who killed 3,000 on 9-11 died on 9-11. 2. Not a single Afghan killed by U.S. troops had anything to do with 9-11.

Unfortunately, my friend and his dad did like the movie:(

I reluctantly watched about 75% of it. I have no desire to see how it ended. It was pure pro US military propaganda barf flick.

I would not have chosen to see it either, although I kind of wish Laurence Vance would go see it just so I could read his review of the entire movie. I understand his lack of desire to subject himself to it though.

Basically the way I described it, when the Muslims got killed it was like Stormtroopers in Star Wars, when an American got shot it was super gorey and made it look horiffic. And this is just my conservative upbringing, but the hundred + uses of f*** were just kind of annoying to listen to.

Why did you watch 75% of it, and did you actually leave the theater? The reason I watched it was because my friend really wanted to see it, and I didn't really know anything about it until I went (I had read what Laurence posted on Christmas Day but I forgot.)

But on Fox News they told me that Hollywood is full of anti-war activists who are out to destroy America.

LOL!

(Was that actually on Fox News? I know your family is "conservative" enough that you might be unintentionally watching FOX;))

Can't blame you. We all get bored and go do things we know we'll not enjoy.

like when I went to see all those SAW and paranormal activity movies

I was just referring to a general attitude on Neocon media and forums.

I knew the movie was about the marines and suspected I would not enjoy it, but I didn't know much else. I was over my friend's house though so it wasn't exactly my choice. I mean, I guess I could have been a jerk and refused to go, but I wasn't going to do that. I wouldn't watch it again. I'm sort of glad I went only so that I can say yeah, it was neocon crap and I saw it.

OK, fair enough.

I'm disappointed in you ;) I thought the trailer made it pretty obvious that it would be the typical war propaganda stuff ;)

I took 2 things from the movie.

1. Seals are badass
2. The very people we are condemning with our invasion are the very people that saved Lutrells life

I never saw the trailer. Went with a friend because he wanted to see it.

I wish I could say I helped "The team" here somehow, but I'm really not sure how. Laurence gave more commentary than I did and he didn't even watch the thing:p
